We just got a nine week old tabby today. She has already had her first shots. I was wondering when we should take her to the vet for a checkup and another round of shots?

I am not sure about the shots, but I'm pretty sure she should be checked by your vet right away, to be sure that she is in good health and free of parasites or infectious diseases, etc. (especially if you have other animals in the house). That's what my vet recommends, anyway.

Same. I was told that whenever you get a new pet, the first thing that should be done is for him or her to be taken to the vet, at least for a checkup. Then the vet can tell you what shots need to be given and when.

When I adopted Dexter & Sadie...I took them by my vets for blood work & their first kittens shots before I brought them home. I think that they had their first worming then too. If I were you, I would get baseline blood work & an exam by their vet to rule out illness & continue their kitten shots & begin their de-worming. Congratulations on your new kitten.

She has already started de-worming so that is a good thing. Either my husband and I are going to take her to the vet on Monday or Wednesday for a check-up and to see what she needs next!

Thanks everyone for all of your advice!!
