Veggie on Whole Wheat, please! Pile on those veggies! Tomatoes, onions, green peppers, lettuce, cucumber, jalapeno peppers, black olives, extra banana peppers with extras also in a little cup on the side. A touch of spicy brown mustard, O/V, and a sprinkling of Italian Herbs.

Someone mentioned earlier about eggplant. I've never been in a deli that offered eggplant, but if this one does, scratch that other sandwhich, I'll take roasted eggplant any day!

i'm sorry, can someone please describe to me eggplant. I have seen them, but never had it. What does it taste like, why do they call it eggplant, is it really any good?

Sorry for all of the questions, but it doesnt look very appealing to me.

in sicily they are round and light purple, here in germany they look like a large long egg which is purply black, they actually come in different sizes, shapes and colours.

My dad actually coats them in a little butter and uses a special frying pan that looks like a grill?? Apparently they are bitter when raw, but i dont eat them raw.
There are a few recipes online

I just sliced them yesterday and coated them with flour and salt and put them in a pan with some olive oil, then when done i put them on kitchen paper and pushed the oil off.

You can also roast them, put them in pasta sauces
and make a few things.
try out some recipes, i seriously tell you that its yummy as!

My bf doesnt like the way i make them but he likes them in sauces (chop them up and add them to the sauce)

At Mama Mays it would be rye bread, hot pastrami, no cheese and mustard only...if you've had one of Mama May's sandwiches in San Francisco, you'll know why I said the bread first!

Back home it's a Roman Burger at Mr. Hero.

It's also called "aubergine". Fran already gave a good description. I'd have to add that it tastes best fried, especially when breaded, and with lots of salt.

There's a deli in Queens that makes the best sandwiches... Adrian and I have acutally driven all the way there just for a sandwich.... Roast Beef and fresh Mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, roasted peppers, mayo, oil and vinegar on a hero... It's huge!! and soooo good.... totally worth the trip!!

My other favorite is the Monte Special from the Deli by A's house... Chicken cutlet, bacon, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato and mayo... mmm... and A's favorite... Turkey, Salami, and munster with mayo...

mmmm... now i'm hungry... hehe

Everyones sounds so good.. I'd eat any of them.
However-"warm subs" would be meatball sub or French dip with green peppers and onions.
