My cat Andy likes to suck my stomach area, I don't mind. But the problem is that he pulls with his nails, and has damage several of my blouses. Any of you, have had this pulling with the nails problem, and did you find the solution to make him stop?

You could try to keep his nails trimmed short, that might help. Sturgis is a sucker, but he is declawed so I don't have that problem.

I have one drooler who pulls with her claws, when she starts getting too intense, I just gentle hold her paws (which she hates) and tell her no.
Keeping her nails trimmed when they aren't capped saves the cloth though.

My two suckers are both declawed.

I hold Ellie's paws too. It can be hard to know what to do when you have a cat who suckles on you, as any petting can be interpreted as an invitation to suck, and it gets a bit much. But I for one don't want her to think I don't pet her, so I put my hand under her neck to hold her head up when I have had enough of her sucking, while I continue to stroke her. I don't know if that is giving her confusing signals or not.

For my rambo petting isn't necessary for him to start suckling. He usually comes over for that exact purpose, and he sometimes starts in the middle of the night when i'm asleep. I've learned to redirect his suckling on to one of my old shirts and off of my body. I find petting him (slow strokes) actually calms him and stops the behaviour faster.

Good luck with your kitty

Petting actually encourages Ginger to suck more! Hungry, not hungry doesn't matter.
The sound makes me feel ill, so I dump her on the floor, she usually curls up and goes to sleep somewhere. I know, I know, big meany.
