I took sakura to the vet earlier this week for breathing and coughing. We got that undercontrol but now shes not eating! Tuesday we took her to the vet, Wednesday she ate in the morning, Thursday she wouldnt eat dry food anymore so i got her to eat tuna, friday i had a really hard time so i even resorted to milk (i know baaad me). She drank a little bit of that in the morning but last night she wouldnt drink it anymore. She is starting to get so mad at me.

I called the vet office this morning. I made an appoinment for monday since the vet doesnt come in on weekends. They told me if i couldnt get her to eat anything then i have to force feed her. I did that this morning but does anyone have any suggestions to help me out?

More vibes and happy thoughts will be appreciated.
Thank you

For the meantime you can supplement with nutri-cal, it's a high calorie supplement.

OK. I got an appointment for 12:30 today at another animal hospital in the area. Just got back. Isnt it funny when you take a pet to the vet they seem better the instant they see carrier. Well she ate at the vet office. Whats with that!!

Thank you for you comments Hissy and Hunter.

The vet gave me Hill prescription a/d wet food for the weekend. She ate that there and currently shes eating it the bathtub as im writing this. I feel loads better. If your questioning the bathtub its because its the coolest place in the apartment.

Now if you excuse me im gonna get something to eat myself

Glad she's eating again
!

I know, when Melichus was a young cat, about 5-6 months old, he started acting very strangely one evening. Sitting hunched up, hiding in the bathroom behind the toilet and walking rather oddly. I was extremely worried, and was afraid he'd eaten something. Well, we called our vet (we lived way out in the country at the time) and he met us at his office about 8:00 in the evening. I described what was going on, he examined him, set him down on the floor to watch him walk, and I swear that cat looked and acted perfectly normal!!! I'll never forget watching my vet follow that kitten around from room to room in his office watching him as Melichus just strutted through there with his tail up in the air, exploring. I apologized profusely to the vet for getting him in for nothing but he just waved it away. He didn't even charge me any kind of after-hours fee or anything.

Never did figure out what was going on with Melichus that evening, but, better safe than sorry!

Cindy

well kitty is doing really good this morning.

That last vet appointment seemed to make her believe that she is safe only in the bathroom and underneath the bed but at least shes now eating. I got her playing a bit too, she was playing fetch but she wouldnt go beyond the bathroom door way when the ball was thrown that way. She also seems to want me around more too. If i leave her sight for to long she will start meowing. yay!!!

Im ok with her living in that side of my apartment. I will give her all the time she needs, as long as she keeps eating, drinking, and using the litter box of course.

I took Spot to the vet because he wasn't eating much. Just like Sakura, he ate while at the vet's office but stopped as soon as we got home. I ended up force-feeding him a bit and giving him appetite stimulants. Now he's on Fancy Feast, which isn't the greatest food, but at least he's eating on his own.

God bless Fancy Feast...it's one of Patrick's favorites.

I did find something new, sent to me to trial - freeze-dried raw green tripe...all my cats, especially Patrick, went nuts for it.

Well shes been very depressed ever since we went to the vet about eating.
The only way i can cheer her up is playing with string. She can never resist that.

Ive discovered that she only likes this presicription can food when its fresh, so i have to force feed the rest to her. the second it has to be put in the fridge she doestn like it anymore. Ive tried heating it up in all sorts of ways but no go. I dont really want to keep giving her fresh cans because i have to throw so much away. I just bought some fancy feast to see if she likes it. I also bought almost every other brand of food that i can find. Hopefully she likes a brand that has the mini cans but she enjoys any of them ill be thrilled.

I just tried the fancy feast since you guys got me thinking about it. She loved it. She ate it like she has never seen food before.

Thank goodness..having her eat on her own is far preferable to assist-feeding her!

I will probably give her a little bit of the prescription food everyday since i have 3 more cans. Im still amazed at how much she likes fancy feast. I think the trick will be to get her to start eating her regular dry food. I just bought new bag last week! I dont mind her having a little bit of wet food everyday, but i perfer to start eating the dry. It will be easier when i go camping at the end of the summer.

Today she started to adventure through the whole apartment. well, except the kitchen but she rarely went in there anyways. Its nice because i dont have to keep wondering what shes up to in my bedroom. Im hoping that i will be able to move her cat fountain back into the dining room and just keep the a waterbowl in the bathroom for her. I'll just have to be careful and not spook her and have her start hiding again.

thanks for your support

well i had a little scar this morning, but it turned out that i was just over reacting. I tried to give her the rest of last nights can and she wouldnt eat it. I immediatly jumped to the conclusion that she wouldnt eat fancy feast anymore. Well than it hit me that it is leftovers. I ran over to the mall and got 5 more cans, all different fishy flavors. Im hoping to get her to eat the whole can today.

Im worried that she might have to go to the vet again. She has already been twice in little over a week. I also cant really afford it. In total ive spent 250 and i have rent coming up. So lets cross our fingers that she eats a little more everyday.

Also she hasnt gone #2 in a while. Is this because she has had a normal full days amout of food in 3 days? I hope so. Im starting to get worried.

I'd consider giving her some laxatone in case there is some stool in there...if by some chance she's a bit constipated, that will cause a loss of appetite (and vomitting sometimes as well). Poor kitten...she's really had a time of it so far! I'd call the vets - they should be able to advise what they recommend for constipation over the phone..if she's had anything in, there should be something coming out!

Well she went #2 a little while ago.

I was just thinking about going to bed when my fiance said she went towards the litterbox, then i heard her dig for like 3 sec then she threw up her last meal and then went back to the litterbox. The first batch is really really hard. The second batch is a bit softer. Im gonna stay up late tonight just to make sure shes ok and tomarow morning im gonna call the vet from work.
Lets hope this is a start to getting better.
