I think Maggie is in heat. She's not even 6 months,so I thought she was too young. Can someone please tell me what the signs of heat are. She's the only cat in our house and she stays indoors. She's been rolling around on her back for 2 days straight and she holds her rear really strangely. She's making very weird noises and meowing and pacing. Plus, she's turned very mischeivious. Is she in heat? The doctor told me about a month ago that she could wait for 2 more months. Is it ok to spay her while she's in heat? She's driving me nuts! Is there a way to make her more comfortable?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just concerned!

Sounds like she is in heat to me. Thats exactly what they do. You can get a female spayed between 4 and 6 months. They can be spayed while in heat also. I would get her in when you can. No, theres nothing you can do about it. She will not be happy till she gets a male. So spaying her is the best option...

Mindi,

Yup, she's in heat alright. My Siamese mix Maya Laquita Linn acted the same way. It was terrific when she was being shown in cat shows. The judges
her and she
's them! Now that she's fixed, she's back to normal. Still a happy kitty, though.

BTW - I've moved this to the behavior thread.
