Maybe I'm an overly worried "mother" but one of my kitties is sleeping almost all the time. It's really not like him. "Zorro" was very active, playing and chasing my other cat. Now he seems to sleep about 22 hours a day. Really, he isn't awake or active more than an hour and a half before he lays back down. He doesn't seem to have a cold or be sick (no vomiting or diarhea). Earlier this week he wasn't eating his normal amount but the last two days he's been better. His eyes are clear. His nose isn't running. I don't know what else to look for. I know I have a cold and I've been resting more than normal too but as I said, he isn't really showing any other symptoms. Any suggestions on what else I should be looking out for? Anyone else ever have a similiar problem?
Thanks!
Julie

and eliminating, has no fever and is just sleepy, perhaps he is playing while you are asleep? Have you tried to engage him with a feather toy or some catnip to see if that gets a response? I would try that and if that doesn't work, then I would take kitty to the vet for a check-up. Though young kittys play rough and sleep a lot too.

I have tried to get him to play using his favorite toys. He responds for a while and then lays back down and shortly is asleep.
I really started thinking there was a problem when he stopped following me around. Usually when it gets within an hour of his evening meal, he becomes my best friend and follows me everywhere, waiting for his dinner. He hasn't done that at all this week and now I have to call to him to come to dinner.
Also, at night he sleeps with me and since I am a light sleeper, he wakes me up if he jumps off the bed. He used to wake up around 6:30 every morning and play for a few hours and then go back to sleep. Now he gets up for about an hour and then, back to sleep again.
I had him in to the vet just a few weeks ago for his annual physical. He was fine then.
Maybe I'll give the vet a call and see what he says.
Thanks for your advice!

Miro, I am a new kitty owner, and maybe a bit overly cautious, but I would take your kitty to the Vet, just to make sure everything is okay.
