My kitten wants to go outside!

My kitten is an indoor cat, but lately he has really been trying to get outisde at every opportunity! I have let him have a little wander in the garden before, and im wondering if this was a mistake as its given him a taste of the outdoors?

He seems happy indoors but he does look out of the window a lot and if he hears the door he will race over to try and get out! Do you think he is happy being an indoor cat?

Is he neutered?

he is being neuteured next wednesday.

Well a little bit after that he won't want to go out again. They lose that wandering bug. He is a beautiful kitty I wouldn't let him outside for fear of what might happen to him, or that he would get snatched!

We hope ! Just for another point of view, I had a spayed female Himalayan at one time that constantly wanted out, would not take no for an answer (and she had always been an indoor cat) and was always looking to escape. I finally gave up and she became an indoor/outdoor cat (we lived in the country at the time, this was 20 years or so ago.) And the thing was, she wanted out, and had never BEEN out. We did have other cats that were indoor/outdoor cats and sometimes I wonder if they just talked to her and told her how wonderful it was until she was determined to experience it herself!
