Greetings everyone!! Happy New Year's wishes to you all!
Well, I just wanted to let you all know the big news finally!! After being on bed rest since early October for beginning symptoms of pre-eclampsia, I'm happy to report that I got better within a month and was able to carry my baby full-term with no further complications!
I was due on December 13th and, you know how it goes for first time moms... they are generally a week late. I went in for an ultrasound on monday the 17th to acess how big they thought the baby was. After figuring that she was 9 lbs, 5 oz. the doctor decided to induce labor the following morning at 7am. However, my first water sack (I actually had 2) broke that morning at 2am so Russ and I headed to the hospital to start the beginnings of my labor. I decided to go natural which was something we had looked into for months...I didn't like the thought of being drugged up to have my baby, and I really wanted to feel the sensations of giving birth anyway. I labored a good 10 hours and got stuck at 7cm. I was exhausted and finally gave in to having my doctor come in and break the 2nd water bag. After that, I labored 2.5 more hours and our little baby girl came into this world at 244pm on December 18th.
We named her Jade Adell. She ended up weighing 8 lbs, 12 oz and was 20 inches long. She is SO incredibly beautiful!! She has lots of black hair and I know her eyes will be my dark brown as well! She has long fingers and big feet, and she is very fuzzy and cuddly! SHe is also a very healthy baby, having scored 8s and 9s on her APGAR. However, one thing we were not ready for was the shock of her birth defect. She was born with a cleft lip and palate (which is very fixable these days) and will require her to have 3 surgeries to repair it this year up at Primary CHildren's. We've already met with one surgeon we were not satisified with and so we've already set an appt to meet with one who comes highly recommended and is one of the top 100 docotrs in the nation for cranialfacial surgery!
I just want to take the opportunity to tell you all how comforted I have been with the outpouring of love from friends and family and let you all know that the power of prayer is awesome! I have balled and balled just looking at my sweet daughter and worried so much for her because I feel so bad for her. I don't ever want her to grow up and be teased and I worried about all that right after she was born! But the more research I've done on it let's me know that she'll be fine and her beautiful spirit will soon be met with a beautiful, "perfect" face! I love her SO much and am so thankful for her to be in our lives. It's also really amazing what the birth of a child will do for your relationship as well. My love has grown for my husband each day I have known him, but now it's growing at an even larger rate I can't tell you how happy I am!
I love and miss you all and look forward to hearing from each you! Sany I wanted to thank you very much for the secret santa stuff! My cat especially thanks you for her new toy! And Rene, hope you liked yours even though I forgot to wrap it! BTW, the last picture is of my and my husband and our cat is the little Tabby one. All the others belonged to former roommates!
Hope all is well wherever you all are in life. Take care and good luck!
