With mom looking for a new kitten, some of the fears regarding her old cat have arrisen. Rasha had cronic renal failure for the last three years of his life, in which mom spent many nights awake giving him water, feeding him every other hour and generally worrying about her baby. In her hopes for the new furlove she's wondering if there is anyway to prevent that slow pain (for her and the cat) from happening again.
We have a freshflow fountain and have started feeding quality wet catfood. Is there something we should look for in the food, or do for the cat?
Thanks once again,
Jess

Jess, one consideration would be perhaps feeding lower phosphorous canned foods. I've found one of the best ways to manage my crf kitty has been to watch the phosphorous level.

You should check out this site to see if this is discussed in more depth.
