MY 9 YEAR OLD FEMALE CAT TWINKLES BROKE HER TAIL WHEN SHE WAS 9 MONTHS OLD. IT IS HEALED NOW, BUT SHE STILL GROWLS WHEN YOU TOUCH IT. DO YOU THINKS IT STILL HURTS WHEN YOU TOUCH IT? OR DOES SHE JUST DISLIKE IT BEING TOUCHED?

Tasha - I think you might get more responses to the question in the Health forum - so I am moving this post to that forum. Good luck.

Hmmmm Im no expert on this by any means, but I would say it depends on the treatment she recieved when she first broke it, I mean if it was treated and checked over by a vet then hopefully it is ok and she just doesn't like it, but if it was left to heal on its own it is likely that it did not heal properly, bonds and joins may not have formed in the right places etc so it could still be painful for her. I hope someone else has some better advice for you. It might be a good idea to have the vet check it out anyway - just to be on the safe side. Let us know!

LOL Bod, no that was very good advice. It sounds as if the tail healed improperly and it may be tender now. Most cats will only lash out by growling or hissing when in pain, if they are just irritated, they will usually just walk away or get twitchy.

Or if it did heal properly maybe she just associates the tail with pain and doesn't like it being touched?
