She rips a bite out, but I dont think she is actually eating it.
I find chunks of the box all the time - including from the box that her perch is on.

Should I be conerned she is doing this?

You need a word with Danielle(Huggles). Her cats Tipsy and Cedar do exactly the same, infact if you go into furpages their threads there now with pictures of them with the shredded boxes

She sent a few of us a couple of short videos of them chewing the boxes up and it was so funny, and the mess they made!!

One of my cats does that sometimes. When I catch him I tell him no and take it away. I usually replace it with a toy mouse or I pet him to distract him.

If it's only boxes you're lucky. Just leave a few boxes around for chewing purposes and be happy!!

as already mentioned - both my boys do it!!! Tipsy taught Cedar as soon as Cedar entered this house... its crazy!! every box in this house has chunks taken out of it

I wouldnt worry at all - mine dont eat it, they just rip a piece off, spit it out and then sleep in it...

heres a well known photo of Cedar
I have photos galore of the many "art pieces" my 2 have created

My two do it as well. I have loads of boxes around the place, all with little tiny kitten teeth marks in them! I save boxes specially to give to them, it keeps them amused for hours!

Huggles! Thx for the pic! That is hilarious! I love his self-satisfied expression!

I've had cats all my life - and this is first for me!

I picked up a box full of books, which then fell apart. Right away Smidge got in and likes to play in there..so I just leave it out for her. Now I come home to a pile of shredded box! Since it is ok....she gets all the boxes left out from now on!

As long as they are not eating them you are fine- cat's love cardboard. My cat Shredder used to routinely shred shoeboxes, packing boxes, egg cardboard flats, mail and telephone books-
