Smidge started on Iams dry, but after two months I switched her to Royal Canin dry, to get away from byproducts. I also feed her about a Tblsp of pouch every am and pm.

Her coat is not nearly as soft and nice as it just to be as a result.
With the Iams is was so luxerious.
I'm sure she is as healthy or healthier, but should I care about the difference in her coat?

I dont want to be so shallow
LOL, but it is hard to believe the "better" food doesnt show up more on her coat.

Comments please.

I don't know how old Smidge is, but sometimes cats fur changes texture with age, could this be it? I know paige has SOFT fur, but as Molly has had her markings come more pronounced, she has gotten a bit more rough. gibby's fur is feather soft, but he's just a kitten yet, and the texture is typical of the breed.

wow, I never thought of that.

She is maybe a full year at this point.

In April I was told she was 9-12mns by one vet, or 11-12mns by another.
SHe has also gained 2.5 lbs since April, and definately grown.

did you make sure the lonolec acid/omega 6 is higher in the Royal Canin than the Iams??? if it is give it another month since her coat is not fully"cycled" it takes about 83 days to get a totally new coat...
