I really hate my hormones right now. Ever since I got pregnant I've become super sensitive about animals, especially cats (surprise.) I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that there are more good people in the world than bad when it comes to cats and other animals. What I mean is how people treat pets and that more people than not care for animals. Does this make any sense? I want to save as many cats as I can, but I know this isn't an option since we already have our girlies and it's not physically possible for anyone to do this. This has made me cry on numerous occasions and I guess I just want to know that I'm not crazy. I can't wait to get home from work every night so that I can cuddle with my girls (oh yeah, and my hubby.) I just hope there are more good people than mean out there.

I know exactly how you feel, I'm not pregnant, but when I'm more hormonal/emotional my poor boyfriend has to deal with a girlfriend sobbing with worry about the animals. Luckily I hold it together the rest of the time.

I can't give you facts or figures, and I get pessimistic myself. But heres my happy kitty story of late...

Two of my foster kittens got adopted from our adoption center together. One of the two I fell head-over-heels for and really, really wanted to keep. What makes it hard is that normally I don't get to meet the adoptive parents. I know the woman in charge of approving adoptions and trust her, but it is still hard.

On a fluke I was there when the "adoptive mother" came by to get stuff for my boys (now her boys I suppose). She was SO nice, I got her e-mail and sent her some baby pictures. She wrote me back about what a great time they were having. It made me feel SO GOOD.

Even cooler to me was that she renamed my favorite boy Buster, after Buster Keaton. I adore Buster Keaton, it felt like fate, or kismet, or something.

That's my feel-good story for the day.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I'm hormonal at the moment
But ever since a friend who is in the army went out to iraq and told me how the people out there treat the animals, every time something comes on the news about conflicts out there with the sound of gun shots, and bombs going off in the background, i can't help but think about the poor things

Mind you it made me feel a lot better when she told me that the soldiers used to give them a slap back in return if they ever saw an animal being mistreat in any way

One incident in particular was with a donkey and the guy kept whipping the poor thing, but one of the soldiers snatched the stick from him and give him a couple of wacks in return!!

Well i've made the two of us feel a whole lot better havent i!!

I have to believe that most people treat their animals well and that it isjust that we hear more about the bad ones(I can't believe otherwise cause it would hurt too much) Vonunteering at a rescue shelter of course we get more than our share of abandoned and abused animals but we also have the great days when an adoptive family brings in pics of the family playing with their cats and knowing that we done good. Every time I take a foster litter back to the shelte4r I know that they will get a good home and that there is no way that I can keep them all and other people need their love too.

Thanks everyone
I knew if anyone could help make me feel better it would be the people on this site. Everyone here has such big hearts, it makes me feel good. I guess it is true that we really only hear about the bad cases instead of the good ones. But if I dwelled on it too long, I wouldn't be able to function, I'd be a crying mess. Thanks again for all the help, it's very appreciated.

there are many of us out there who share your love of animals and try to do our part in seeing them being treated humanely, My story is that last mo i rescued a unspayed female who gave birth to a liter of 3 kittens, I was able to find homes for all the babes and the mother went to a no kill shelter, so see we do care too!

That's a wonderful story! How kind of you to take care of her and her babies.

My first sign that I was pregnant with my now 16 y/o ds was my tearfulness. I saw a movie about a down and out Mom who gave up her child because she couldn't afford to feed it. Well, not only did I cry through the movie, but I cried the next day telling my friend about it! I remember saying that my dd (now 22 y/o) would just have to starve if I was in that position, because I would never give her up. I said I would knock on the doors of strangers first and ask for help!

As I was crying I was thinking about what a goofball I was!

Please learn to enjoy those hormonal tears. They are very cleansing, and very common for pregnant ladies!

I know many catlovers. So many cats are well loved and pampered. They are properly cared for, and live long happy lives. Spend time visiting your catloving friends, so you can see their indulged catbabies. And continue to enjoy your kits. Soon they will have a little baby to sniff and lick. I'm not sure how quickly they will love baby, but can guarantee baby will love the kitties!
