It varies... I've had a cat drink very little, and a cat who's dish I'd have to refill 3-4 times a day.

Before the kitten were born, I had to refill the water dish 1-2 times a day, but Mirah and Annie drink alot, so now it's 2-3 times a day. I had a momma cat that drank so much water, I had to get a bigger water dish and fill it 3-4 times a day.

You might want to watch her water intake, and also call your vet and let them know.

a healthy cat should drink 4-6 ounces no more a day according to something I readx... but since yours is recovering she may not be thirsty yet.. did she eat dry or wet .. if wet she had a drink to kinda

I wouldn't worry either..... just keep an eye on her, and if she starts to get dehydrated, bring her in ASAP.

Also, the wet food may help.

Well how do you know if a cat is dehydrated?

Grab the back of the neck... if it doesn't snap back, it's dehydrated... check the mouth color... if it's pale, it's dehydrated. There are other ways, but those are the two easiest and most common, and I don't really know the others.

It won't hurt her.... honestly. A lot of people think that if you grab a cat by the scruff it will hurt them, and it doesn't. You can't pick an adult cat up by the scruff, but you can grab them by the scruff. Honestly, it doesn't hurt to. And it will hurt more if she becomes dehydrated, and you don't know, and she needs extensive care.

If you do, be careful not to drown her... it's best if you can make her drink... it's really risky to force a cat to drink.

So take her by the scruff and if it goes right back down she isn't dehydrated correct?

Okie dokie.. I'm sure she will be ok until tomorrow and if the doc says force water down her or something ill ask how much... She might just not want any water cuz when she was in the vet they gave her fluids..
