To all TCS members, new and old:

There has been a rash of misplaced threads on the boards in recent weeks. We all realize that the Lounge is a heavily trafficked forum, but concerns about cat health or behavior do not belong in this forum. If you feel your cat's health is that big of an emergency, you should be picking up the phone and dialing your vet.

When you post threads concerning the care, health, or behavior of your cat in the appropriate forum, an email goes out automatically to the moderators of those forums. One of the reasons those folks are moderators of those areas is because they are knowlegable.

When you post in the Lounge, the first mod that sees the misplaced thread will move it, but the same email notification does not go out. Therefore, your thread may be missed by a person who may have useful advice for you!

Remember also, that the archives of our forums serve as educational material for future visitors who have similar concerns. It is difficult to find pertinent health information in a search if the forums are not kept organized.

Thank you for your attention.

Thanks for the important reminder.

I did not know that an e-mail is sent to a moderator when we start a thread in the care, health & behavior forums.
That is one more reason why I love TCS.

I think the search option is underused, often qestions that come up have been discussed before, and you can get help by the answers that were offered before. It works really well if you want immediate feedback! I know I have answered many questions that way, if you have a similar problem that isnt exact you can always add on to that thread so the same things are not said again and again. It took me forever to find that feature, in fact I found it by accident.

Yup, pretty much any forum, except the Lounge.

AMEN...people get in a such a hurry to post without really doing any searching on the board....i have many questions/concerns answered just by doing a search.... that eliminates duplicate posts!
