I have 2 tabby cats - Cottage (female) and Mr. Blue (guess
). They are both about 4 years old, and both of them were found abandoned on the street at about 3 weeks.
Mr. Blue had a broken leg when I found him and he was badly undernourished. He has been spoiled rotten for most of his life, but he definitely had a tough start and it tells. When he was 6 months old, he was running around the house and got his front paw caught in a telephone wire. I found him like that a couple of hours, panicked and anxious. He'd chewed off and swallowed the foam that covered the phone, and for the next few days he was very sick, eventually needed to have his stomache pumped.
Shortly after this accident, he started to have nightmares in his slep and he would urinate in the middle of the nightmares. It happened almost every time he went to sleep, and ONLY when he was asleep. He is neutered and does not spray or even make mistakes when he's awake. The vet has checked him a few times and his problem is not physical. I was told that if I give him enough love and affection this condition should pass. Three years later and he still urinates in his sleep. I can see his having a nightmare - one minute he's sound asleep, the next he's kicking and his hair's on end and he arches his back then urinates. This usually wakes him up and he seems to be very upset by what's happened, acts as if he can cover the urine and scratches at the surface where he's gone as if he could cover the urine. I feel really bad for him, and really bad for my furniture. This condition is not doing much for my private life either.
Please, if anyone knows of a similar problem, PLEASE help me out here.
Thanks so much
