I just found out I passed and got my G.E.D.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm almost 33 years old and finally decided to pursue it about 3 months ago, and yesterday the instructor called with the scores!!! Her first word was "Congratulations." and I promptly started crying......I was so worried about my essay. The topic was "If you had a million dollars to give away to a charity or organization, who would you give it to? You cannot keep any money, nor give it to family or friends." I wrote about a wonderful organization called O.R.C.A.---(Organization for the Responsible Care of Animals)--- they are a no-kill animal shelter here in PA. After I wrote it, though, I started worrying maybe I should have picked a more well known cause, since the tests go out to Kansas to be graded.
But, all that worrying was for nothing.......I passed!!!!
In fact, here are my scores: (For those of you who do not know, you need a minimum score of 410 per test to pass, plus a combined score of all 5 tests totalling a minimum of 2250 points.)
Language Arts/Writing: 530
Social Studies: 640
Science: 640
Language Arts/Reading: 800
Perfect score by the way.

Math: 630

Total score: 3240

That is sosoooo AWESOME!!! And I'll bet that your O.R.C.A. article will get some people in Kansas thinking. In helping yourself, you have helped animals--- it doesn't get better than that!! Please give yourself a big pat on the back & a big hug for me!!

Well, I was going to congratulate you for getting your GED-because I think a lot of people plan to do it, but never do!

But with those scores...you really need to think seriously about continuing your education. Have you thought about college courses?

My hubby asked me something similar....he said so what do you want to be now that you graduated high school?

I am planning on getting a teacher's aid job at my son's elementary school.

But, thank you all for your congrats! I just hope that others may decide to try going for it....part of the reason I waited so long was because of fear. I thought that there'd be no way I'd pass, 'cause I figured I had forgotten everything, and I also heard stories that the G.E.D. is really hard (which it really isn't, you just need to pay attention to the wording of the questions).

Or, it is really hard, and you are just a lot smarter than you thought you were.

Congratulations! I think that the older you are, the more difficult it is to go back and take these tests. You should be very very proud of yourself.
