I've noticed lately that Jordan (my alpha cat) lets Isaac steel his food. Isaac was 3 months old when I got him, Levi & Jordan were just over a year. Levi being bottom rung kitty tried to assert himself, but Isaac has a more dominant personality & quickly became number 2. Jordan has always let Isaac take food from him which I attributed to him being a kitten (maybe I'm worong). Isaac is now a year old & because he has Maine Coon in him is continuing to grow & is now longer & taller than Jordan. For the most part I think Jordan shares alpha with Isaac like 2 lions that team up to run a pride. However, sometimes when Isaac tries to step infront of Jordan for my attention Jordan snaps at his ear (never really bites him, just gives him a warning) and for the most part Isaac backs down. I should add that when he was little Isaac idolized Jordan & followed him everywhere & did every thing Jordan did (Including the MANY naughty things Jordan does) So I'm always supprised when Jordan lets Isaac take food from him Is it possible that in Jordan's mind Isaac is still a kitten who needs to be looked after?

I don't think so, necessarily. It might just be Jordan recognizing that Isaac is dominant, and has leadership qualities, and is just patient enough to allow it. He might see things as you do, that Isaac idolized him, and he might consider himself a bit of a "big brother" to Isaac now. Kitty ranks are so funny sometimes. I think it's mostly like he probably views Isaac as an apprentice.

I agree with maherwoman.
