clumping litter question and kittens

At what age is it okay to switch to clumping litter for kittens. I have two foster kittens at home right now and am, obviously, using regular litter. However, I am thinking of adopting one of them and would prefer to use clumping as I find it covers odour better and I use less of it as I don't have to dump the entire pan of litter out, just whatever clumps.

Please advise. Thanks.

The reason clumping litter isn't recommended for kittens is because sometimes they're known to eat litter. So I suppose that if you've observed they never do that, or aren't doing it any more, then it's safe to switch to clumping litter.

I have to agree with coaster. If you haven't seen them eat it then perhaps give it a try When my sister had her cats, they never ate the litter so she used clumping right from the beginning without any problems.

Usually any kitten older than 12 weeks old can deal with clumping litter, but if you see them sampling the cuisine, switch back.
