I'm still overwhelmed by the thread Cool Cat started ("Good Vibes for Pepper Girl!!!!!...
"). I couldn't believe it when I read it!
Thank you all so, so much! I welled up and everything
I defintely need those good vibes. It was the worst move in history...I am NOT kidding!!!!!

It all started when the movers I had booked were four hours late, they showed up at 8 p.m. instead of 4 p.m.!
We didn't get moved into our new place until midnight and my bf ended up with heat stroke (it was 32 degress in Toronto that day!).
He was sick for two days, so needless to say we didn't get much done. When we moved in we couldn't use our kitchen for five days, they were building a balcony off our kitchen so they had to finish that and install the patio door and re-paint that wall! We missed our cable/internet appointment, because of the stupid movers being so late, so I didn't have anything until today (that's why haven't been around all week). It was just so frustrating..

It was just horrible, we booked off all this time and hired movers so the move wouldn't be so stressful and it turned out the be the worst ever! We feel as if we haven't had a vacation at all! Needless to say, we've booked off time in August now and we are DEFINTELY going to be having some vacation fun t then! I am going to stop venting now, this was supposed to be a thank-you thread but it turned into a moving horror story!
Anyone else have any horrible moving stories? Something that would make mine look good?

But again, thank-you all so very, very much.
I appreciate all the support. This has to be the best forum EVER, it totally kicks @$$!!!

P.S. I will post some pics of the new place when I get a chance!

At least you're all moved in now!

We had a horrible move. Almost the same situation as yours. Started off, they were hours late, too. Then it took more than twice as long as they had estimated over the phone. Then, when they give me the bill...it was 2 and a half times more than what I had been quoted!!! They didn't bother to tell me that Saturday was billed at time and a half (stupid, considering I had TOLD them the date before I got the quote!). And we still had a half-full apartment back at the old place. So I had to call in sick to work on that Monday, find a U-Haul truck to rent, and then work our tails off to finish moving by ourselves. To top it off, as I was unpacking I realized that the movers stole one of my boxes of collectibles - all of my Beanie Baby bears (when they were still worth a LOT!). It was awful! I don't know that it's as bad or worse than yours, but it was a BAD move!

My God Heidi that's awful!!!
I can't believe someone would do that!
I'm glad I'm not alone with the horrors of moving. I told my bf if I open my mouth next spring about moving again...tape it shut!

Mine is nowhere Near as bad as yours BUT I scheduled my movers to be at my home right after I got home from Church, BUT I never made it to Church. I started and my brakes gave out! I was in a city that closes up on a Sunday so I had to get my car towed to Sears (and pay more as it was out of the range for a free tow). Then one of the workers were kind enough to take me back home in THEIR car.

THEN I had to hitch a ride with the movers to my new home - WITH a BIG Dog and a cat in a carrier and all the things I was supposed to bring in MY car.

I got down there with NO car! I was lucky that the lady next door gave me a ride to the city where I moved from so I could get my car. Also good was I thought to check out the old home, one more time and found some things the movers had left!!!!
