Took Rocco to the vet today to diagnose some problems. Rocco is a kitten we took from mom (a neighborhood feral) less than a week ago. When we took Rocco she was still nursing. We have been feeding her kitten chow and some kitten milk.
To our surprise she is actually 8 weeks old, twice as old as we originally thought. The vet was unable to diagnose any problems even though she clearly is not well. Her poops are runny and even the vet's aide even commented that they are really smelly. Her belly is swollen and she smells bad (breath and rear). She also has been peeing on blankets and on our bed even though she has never pooped outside of her litterbox. The vet did not find any worms in her stool but they gave her a worm pill and some parasite medicine anyway. The vet believed the inappropriate urination was merely a behavioral issue.
Another disturbing development is she has been almost unable to move since coming home from the vet. I hope it is just the trauma of the visit to the vet but I am worried it is a bad reaction to her worm pill.
Has anyone experienced these issues before? Any advice would help.
