Thanks I read those in my room when I brought molly in, and our house is fairly small so I don't think we will be able to seperate them for too long. I am going to put water and other stuff in here. I let them meet because i didn't think she would react too bad.

Mittens didn't really like the fact I guess i brought a new cat into her house so she did what was kind of expected, follow her around, hiss, smell her. All while molly was looking around chasing her tail, and hiding from her. I brought Molly in my room and checked TCS (while my mom was watching her - If you didn't know, I've been the one posting, I'm 17, im more curious about my cat then my mom ! :p) and read Huggles links, Which by the way was alot of usefull information. I don't think we will do exactly how it said though (very time consuming it seems) But we will do the steps, just smaller amounts of times. I don't think Mittens will be able to go a day without staying beside the door the intruder is in. But I will definetely get follow the steps as it said.

Mittens is currently outside my door, Molly is inside sleeping. I will see how productive it goes and update always
Keep up with my info guys, your really helping me along through this!

my house is fairly small as well so it was hard for us to keep Cedar & Tipsy seperated when we brought Cedar home (Tipsy was here first for a good 6 months before I adopted Cedar).

As your stating - I did the steps as well but in a smaller amount of time. Its not always the time that determines these things - but the behaviour and the reaction of your original cat. Just take each step as it comes and see how Mittens reacts to things. If the steps are being taken too quickly then Mittens will let you know and you can just take a step backwards.
Sounds like your going to do perfectly though!! And yes it seems like Mittens is doing all the natural things.

loving the updates

Well... enough said. The pictures describe it all

Mittens finally understands that Molly is a part of the familly and now plays and sleeps and eats with her, they are as cute as ever together. Thanks again for information. As you can see, it helped alot.

I've looked at local Vet offices and I got a few price quotes and I got 250-300 dollars, I'm surious as to if this is a normal price for bloodwork/lucimea test (sorry for spelling) and the actual spay. I am to be understood that those are requirements for bringing her to the vet for a spay. I don't know how i should feel if i bring her to a low cost spay place. I can contact the humane society and see which is the lowest cost but should I be worried?

On that note. Mittens is begging for attention from me, digging her face in my hands more then ussuall, and one thing i have never seen her do is roll on her back, so I'm going to take it as she is starting to go in heat. I'm sure this has got to be the worste week of her life. Relatives in town giving her a bad time, somone taking her best friend (me
) and her body making her do funny things. I feel so bad so I think I'm going to wait a week or two to get her spayed.

Just giving a brief update on the past few days. If any responses concerning please write! I love to hear what you have to say

oh look at them!!!! they are playing together already!!! that is so wonderful

I love the photos - thankyou, they look so precious together

Sounds as if Mittens surely has had a rough week - as long as you continue to give her attention then she will be fine. *hugs* to Mittens

I can not help with advise concerning the cost of her spay as I am on the other side of the world to you - however if you bear with me I will alert some other members to your question and hopefully they will be able to answer this for you.

I dont know if its necessary to get the bloodwork done - I have never had that done here when a spay is done... but vaccinations are important if you havent already done this. I am no expert though by any means and someone else will help you.

Poor mitten's mom sounds like she should be spayed.
I'm wondering why you have gotten another kitten when you are worried about paying for simply spaying the one you have. - I was referring to a previous post where you said money was a concern for you even before you said you had been looking up vet quotes for the spay and possible bloodwork.

What happens if they get sick and need treatment?
I dont mean to sound harsh, you sound young - but you need to plan these things and be responsible when you are dealing with real creatures.
I hope your two babies get along well!

correct me if I am wrong, but I dont believe he is saying he wont get her spayed but is merely questioning the cost of the spay from his local vet and wants to ensure that this is a correct price and that he is getting things done that he needs to get done.
I commend him for researching this so that he can ensure he gives his 2 girls the best care he possibly can. I wish there were more people like this.

I agree with you Danielle.

Brad stick around and someone should be able to help you more on the work that needs to be done, if need be.

You seem very responsible in all this as well

Awww i can't see the new pictures of them?!

I can't see the pictures either! I am sure they are both cuties though!

I had blood tests for my two when they went to be spayed and neutered - but they were rescued from the street, so I wanted to ensure their health.

Is the mum healthy? It might be worth while getting the tests done, as she has so many litters!

Good luck with it all and please do keep us updated!

sorry guys!
I dont know what happened to the pictures.

This should be the ones that I posted earlier. Damn site

Slitty_Kittay - I was only curious if the price sounded reasonable. I'm asking members on here so they can help me decide what is the best choice since I don't want to get anything done that does not need to be done.

And I'm sure I do sound young ... because I am ... and I'm sure I'm taking good care of my cats ... Otherwise I would not ask for help on here.... But thanks for your opinion....

Thanks for your guys feedback
I
it!

When I had my cat spayed, the vet recommended all those tests, vaccination, and I paid about $350 (Canadian). That was for the full treatment, including overnight stay, and pain medication after the spay. The reason she recommended all the blood tests was because the cat was from the SPCA, where they don't do full blook work, and if she had something wrong, it would be a waste to do the more expensive surgery. My neighbours had their cat spayed at one of the low cost clinics and it cost $50. They took her in and picked her up the same day. Both places included a follow up check up 7 - 10 days later to make sure they were healing properly. The low cost clinic also did the vaccinations, but I don't remember how much that was. I think it may have been another $75.00

As for biting. Sam was declawed when I got him. If I was playing with him rough, he would rabbit kick, and then bite. But not really bite, he would just put his mouth on my hand, but with no pressure. However, it still hurt, if I jerked my hand away and got scratched from his teeth. I learned to stay absolutely still as soon as his teeth touched flesh, and I meowed at him, really loud. As soon as I did that, he stopped biting, and started licking instead.

It may have been just the fact that I stopped playing, or it could have been the sudden noise, but whatever, he hardly ever bites any more.

Where I am at in Southern California we have a spay mobile. They are a traveling clinic that does spay/neuters and shots. Spays run 31 dollars, shots about 12 and feline leukemia testing is 20 dollars. There is also a clinic, affiliated with the local shelter, close to where I work that has about the same prices. Both of these places will fix kittens at 4 months. My regular vet charges a lot more for these things so I save him for the other things! Try the local shelter or humane society for information.

We also have low cost spay and neuter clinics here.
I got one of my boys done at my fab vets (who gives me a slight discount) for $50 and I think that is what the S/N clinics routinely charge as well.
For a female, its slightly more but nowhere near $350.
That sounds astronomical. But perhaps they are looking at doing something necessary. I don't know.
I would look around.

Also, yes, please try and get your friend to spay the mama cat.
Poor girl having had 6 litters already. She needs a break.

As has been said, its much better healthwise to spay and neuter as well, possibly avoiding disease and illness down the road...not to mention the costs of having litters..ack!

Thanks guys!

Teething/behavior - Since we got molly I have yet to have her bite me, run around aimlessly at legs, or show a tad of 'wanting' to play. This could be the fact that she has somone to rough around with or is starting normal body function and calming down with only one thing on her mind
Or just the fact that she is teething like was posted above. I'm sure I will find out in due time.

Spay - They have clinics of that sort here, but I did not contact them, I did not know what sort of treatment they do or what conditions they worked under. I figured I would wait and hear what you guys thought of them and if they are worth the extra call since I am giving her another week anyways.

If anyone else has any feedback on anything please post. I love to hear what you guys have to say.
Please keep it updated!

I found Mittens and Molly doing the cutest thing the other day. Well ... I HAVE to show you guys!

I guess towels are comfy
