Hey, thanks... I've been glued to the NHC website for three days but I always get the feeling they're not telling the whole story.

I'm still a little freaked out, and then finding out that it will likely be a 4, small possibility of a 5, at landfall and knowing that my brother-in-law went back to stay with their Pensacola house... that's bad enough. I was on the phone with them just before Ivan hit and I could hear the fear... I don't know what he's thinking!!! So long beach house, I guess.

Thunder rumbling around here from rainbands... expecting at least tropical storm force gusts. I'm deathly afraid of tornados, and we don't have a basement! I'd turn on our weather radio but that thing is old and not narrowed down to zip codes like the new ones are so it goes off every 2 seconds (as it did when Ivan came). Damn my memory! I was going to give my hubby a new one for Christmas and forgot!

Mika has been cuddling with little Holly all day... which they rarely do. In fact, he's been sitting on TOP of her. I wonder if he's trying to protect her and be her hero?

Sorry Hope,
I didn't respond, kinda freaked out and feeling sick! We just lost cable, so I hope this posts. Tampa should be clear of danger by now.

Sooz, sounds like you feel about this stuff about the same as I do, but you've got more reason to fear! I hate, hate, hate tornadoes
; I lived in a mobile home for 12 years and whereas I'd never been afraid of them before, I grew to absolutely dread springtime storms.

Dennis has "wobbled" a couple of times. One thing about lurking on the weather board site, I can get other points of view, but from what I've read I'd say that landfall going as far east as Apalachicola is reaaaaalllllly remote. But ... as James Bond said ... "Never say never" so you still need to watch it of course.

Hang in there

Somebody's mentioned a turn to the NNW quadrant. That would be more northerly and closer to y'all Sooz. Let's hope not

Well, all reports this morning are that he's at a Cat. 4 status again. Looks like we'll be taking the cats and moving us and them to the store tonight....probably not until about 8ish or so though. Gonna be a long day here, we haver church this morning, a bridal shower to cater this afternoon (think I'd cancel if I were them, lol!) and then church at 5 tonight.

Hope, Your sister will receive some nasty weather from the outer bands. Tampa has a tropical storm warning, so they will receive winds and heavy rain. They also have a tornado watch, as do we, because the east side of the hurricane has the strongest weather. It is not uncommon for tornadoes to spawn off. I think she is going to be just fine though. I bet this will feel like a small storm to them compared to what they went through last year.

I also think that the projected path is correct now. I was very suprised it didn't take more of an easterly turn since the high pressure system steering it to the west was weakening. But now it's moved so far along it probably won't be taking any sudden turns.

I hope everyone is able to keep safe during this storm, and let's hope something happens in the weather world that prevents it from strengthening.

We have had a few rainbands go through here in J-ville. Heavy thunderstorms last night but nothing too bad. They say our weather will worsen through the day but by Tuesday we will be back to our normal weather..... severe storms in the afternoons

Yesterday we got hit with one of the feeder bands (I'm in central Georgia) and the lightning was intense. As Dennis gets closer we'll have to tolerate storms and rain at least through tomorrow. The video coverage on The Weather Channel of the beaches down around Destin and Pensacola is amazing (in an eerily surreal sort of way).

Hope everyone in and around the majorly affected areas is doing alright. Keep yourselves and the kitties safe!

My husband is near Dothan Alabama, on the state line of Florida and Alabama. He just started a new job there at Ft Rucker, Alabama. We are in the process of looking for a house there now. He is just above Panama City Florida about an hours drive. I'm sure they are gonna get some nasty weather there. We have family in Gulfport Mississippi also. Hope everyone will be safe through this.

Malynn, my best friend is in Enterprise, abt 20 mi from Dothan. I'm checking in with her frequently today to make sure she and her crew are alright.

Having lived thru a gulf hurricane, in Enterprise, (Opal was my birthday present) I can sympathize with all the prep work and worry that all our TCS members down there are going thru. I'm praying for everyone's safety and that all come thru with minimal property damages!
to all!!!! Keep us posted as you are able!

We are looking for a home in the Enterprise area, both my husband and I grew up there in that area, me from Dothan, he is from Newton, and was born in Enterprise. Both our families live there in the area.
I talked to him a while ago and he said it wasnt that bad there, he was looking at houses even, so I guess it wasnt that bad there, thank goodness.

WOW, a native of East L.A.!!
My BFF has lived there for four years now, and originally said she'd leave as soon as her kids did. But now she's met her mate, and the newlyweds are deciding if they should buy a house there or elsewhere (will depend a lot on how the current custody battle plays out). She says it's growing on her, and so is her new hubby

Just a quick note from here, the center of Dennis is now about 50 miles from here, we have more rain and wind than before, and almost lost power a few minutes ago, so may not be long before we lose it completly. If we do, it might be hours, or it might be a day before they get it back on....usually doesn't stay off too long here at the store, because we're on the same line that feeds the local Alabama Power workstation, so they make sure that they get their power on ASAP!!
