This has been a really bad few days..

Right after a recovered from yesterday, I found out something awful.

My best friend Adraine and I were going to go to New York. Now I dunno what to do! She all of the sudden doesn't want to go..

She was supposed to watch my baby brother one night. She wasn't comfortable, so I said I would miss out to watch him. She still doesn't want to do. As if that wasn't enough to upset me.

Her mother doesn't want to pay for her ticket because she doesn't want to go. My mom says if they don't pay (the ticket is nonrefundable) I'm not allowed to see her anymore. Its not fair! I'm trying to talk to her, but she won't anwser the phone!

What do I do!?

We've done everything together. I see her almost everyday, I adore her, I don't know what to do.

Well, it does sound like something might be going on. I don't understand why if she doesn't go to NY you can't see her anymore. Is there a problem between the two Mom's?

The only way to get to the bottom of this is to talk about it. Does she not want to go to NY because of the London train bombings?

I deffinatley that think that something more is going on. Maybe her parents dont want her to go? Talking is the only thing that will help you get to the bottom of this unfortunately.

She left a message, saying she's uncomfortable about the babysitting, and she doesn't even want to babysit if I'm there.

*sigh* I think she's lying. I'm still trying to call her.

There's something more going on, but she says its because my mom is making us watch my brother in a hotel while they go to something important.

hmmmm.... sounds a bit odd to me. passing up a trip to new yourk because you dont want to do a spot of babysitting?!

what do you think the problem is?

Maybe her parents don't want you alone in a hotel room in New York?

Jenny, I just found your post from yesterday. When I initially read it I was thinking "what is a teenager doing taking sleeping medicine?!?" As I read farther I realized it was melatonin, which is an over the counter supplement.

Is it possible that her parents think you are taking weird medications? Maybe your Mom needs to call her Mom and clear this up.

Okay, I called her again to talk this out. She said she's afraid of being in the hotel alone without an adult, so one of my parents are hopefully gonna stay back with us.

Another reason she doesn't want to go is I tease my brother, and the slightest thing makes him scream (really annoying). So I have to prove to her I can ignore him.

Becky- I don't take sleeping pills for whatever reason you think. I have ADD, so I take special meds from my docter during the day, making it hard for me to sleep at night- thus the docter recommended my sleeping aid. So, no worries. Adraine and her parents know that.

Good job on talking this out with Adriane!! As for staying alone in a hotel, perhaps she just needs to be assured about hotel security.( I have been in Manhattan twice, just a lil ol' country girl who doesn't lock doors, brings out cash in public, & assorted things that my city-bred kin like to lecture me about. Anyway, NY was actually really safe, relatively speaking - there are lots of cops & friendly people who love to help, when you ask. And the hotel staff were really nice, not just the concierge, but everyone !)But if your friend feels uncomfortable, you'll have to respect that in the end. I would just hate for you two to miss a wonderful trip - better to go & say,"why did I bother" than to not go, and always wonder, "Should I have......"

Awww, that sucks, Jenny. I hope it doesn't drive you guys apart, since you're such close friends. Sorry to hear about your news, but there may be a turnover yet. Try to look on the bright side, hon.

Haven't you ever seen the commercials where the little girl at the sleepover didn't want to watch princess moonfire and was scared and wanted to go home? The other little girl was like "ill be right back" and then she came back with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich made with Jiffy peanut butter. She said "Does your mom cut down the middle, or accross?" and the other girl said "Across" and they each had a half of a PB&J sandwich and all was well again

Hehehe. I need sleep.

(I promise not to tell the Jiffy Peanut BUtter overlords if you use cheap, generic peanut butter though )
