Hello,

I've been posting for about a week now, but I've been busy so I haven't actually introduced myself yet :-)

I have 2 precious kitties. One is Prego. He is around 5. We've had him almost 2 years. I got him from the humane society, so I think that age is just a guess. My husband wanted to get a black cat, and I saw this beautiful black longhair. So I asked if I could see him. I took him back to what our humane society calls the "getting acquainted room." I petted him a bit and he seemed happy to have some attention. He had been there for 5 months before we saw him. I think he was waiting for me
Then I put him on my lap, so he would know it was ok. He got up right away and went to sniff my husband. Then he came back, layed down in my lap and started to purr. I was in love! I looked at some other cats, but none of them seemed as friendly as Prego. I sat down next to his cage to fill out an adoption application and he kept pawing at me through the bars of his cage. He was too cute! He didn't want me to leave, but our humane society has a 24-hour waiting period. The next day we took him home. He is still a big (14 lbs) friendly fluffball. It just amazes me that cats people don't want.

The other cat Polly, we just got 2 1/2 weeks ago. She's 13 weeks old now and weighs 2 1/2 lbs. She seems so tiny next to Prego :-) Her mom is a feral that they are still trying to trap and spay. The 3 kittens have been fostered at my vet's. Two were adopted and Polly was left behind. They said she hisses at people, so they didn't think she'd ever get adopted. She's never hissed at me though. They seem to have done a wonderful job socializing her. She is very sweet, likes to be held and will crawl in my lap when she wants to be petted. If she gets lonely and wants attention, she'll meow at me. My vet's office called me specifically to see if I would consider her. They even let me take her home on a trial basis in case she didn't get along with Prego. She loves water. We have a fountain water bowl, and she is daily inventing new ways to drink from it. Sometimes she drinks out of the spout and sometimes, she just dunks her paw in. Too funny! She is still in that kitten stage where she's chasing our feet under the covers at night. My vet, a behavior specialist and Polly's foster mom, tells me to ignore it and she will stop soon.

Wow! This post went on longer than I intended. Once you get me started talking about my babies I can't stop.

I haven't had a chance to take pics yet, but when I do, I'll post them.

Awww, thanks for the nice welcome

I also forgot to mention in my post that Polly got her name because she is polydactyl. Her feet look like she's wearing little mittens!

Welcome to the site! Prego and Polly sound like wonderful kitties, in a very nice home.
Prego sounds like he looks like my Trent - another big fluffy black boy-kitty!

Welcome, rbrtnfld!
Our first two were also considerably different in size, but they grew up together wrestling every chance they got. Would love to see pictures soon!
