I have packed my stuff up and I might go and see if I can get a bus... I just want to get home. These sirens are reminding me so much of what is happening. I just want to go and see Guinness, have a Baileys, have a good cry and thank god that I am alive.

London & Britain will get over this. You silly little terrorists, if you are reading this all I can say is

Make sure you all let us know when you are home safe and let us know what we can do to help. You know all of us here at TCS are thinking of our Brit cousins today. God save the Queen. Remember though you truly have nothing to fear but fear itself as Sir Winston once told the world.

I've been going crazy over this. Three of our faculty (I'm cat sitting for one of them) and a slew of our students are in central London right now. My university is in a mad frenzy trying to find out if they are okay. We have heard nothing from them.

My heart goes out to all of you in London and to all who have loved ones in the city.

Hey all... just heard and glad everyone is safe so far. My parents and I are looking for some people we know over there so if you could keep them in your thoughts, that'd be great.

What a horrible thing to happen, it's so upsetting.

Gilly - I'm so glad to see that you're safe. I've been thinking about you and Nicky (Maverick_kitten) and any other London TCSers all day. We've been in a day-long conference and this was on the plasma screen in the coffee room - it's just awful.

I haven't read through the thread yet - I hope that Nicky (Maverick_kitten) is safe.

My colleague is still trying to contact her brother who would be getting off the tube either at Aldgate or the station before that this morning
. Your good vibes for his wellbeing would be much appreciated.

I feel so dreadful for all the families who will be suffering heartache and worry tonight; or those of you in London who have to live with this worry

Rosiemac, Gilly, Sar, Maverick Kitten, tears came to my eyes when I saw your names on here. I was so worried about all of you. I heard about it during my shift at work, but I had no access to the Internet until I came home. The first thing I did was come here, to make sure my special friends were OK. I am so heart broken about this. To think that yesterday, London and the rest of the UK was jubilant and filled with joy because of the Olympics, and today there is heartbreak and terror. I wish the Terrorists would just leave us all alone. Why must they continue to target the innocent?

I just heard from a friend whose brother lives in London and boards the train for work at Liverpool station at 8:30 a.m. They just learned he's okay. I'm relieved and happy for them, but it really tears me up inside that so many innocent people are impacted by terrorists attacks like this.

Nicky, I'm so pleased to see that you're ok too.

Thank you to all our US TCS friends for your support
- I know that this will bring back so many terrible memories for you. TCS is wonderful!

Former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani was eating one block away from the first bomb that went off. He felt like he was living everything all over again, but he commended the people of London and how everything is being handled.

I am sooo incredibly glad our UK TCSers are safe.

How do you try to calm someone when you don't actually know the answer?!
Poor little girl! The people from New York City and Israel can certainly answer better than I can...however...If it was my child, I would first let her know that as her parent it is my job to keep her safe, and I will do that to the best of my ability. And reassure her that Tony Blair, the police, etc are working furiously to do the same. No matter how old or young she is, she needs the reassurance that someone is helping.

Then let her know that the "bad guys" are just a relatively small bunch of cowards. They believe different than most people, but rather than discuss their different opinions like we do, they want to kill people who are different. When we see people who are different, we are nice. So when we see a person who looks like they may be an arab, we cannot tell if they are good or bad, but we cannot tell with anyone else either. So we choose to be polite and kind as long as that person is polite and kind. And most people of all colors and beliefs disagree with these bad guys. Now is the time to be extra nice to all other people of all beliefs and colors, and let the police take care of the evil men.

Let her know London has lived through a war. London has been bombed before. It was horrible then, and it is horrible now. But we will not allow a few bad men to take away our freedom. If she has a religious faith, now is also the time to remind her that God is in control, and watching over her.

Allow her to talk out her worries and fears, and respond to her. Do not expect her to feel as safe today as she did yesterday, none of us do. But it is necessary to give her something to hold onto during such a difficult time.

I'm glad you are ok, Sarah, as well as Susan, Nicky and Gilly. Gilly, I hope you are able to get home to your kitty soon. I hope we hear from Lindsay (Shem) soon.

Candie, let us know when you hear from your friend's brother Everton! Lots-o-cats, FlissSweetPea, and PinkDaisy-prayers that your friends and co-workers are found safe and sound.

New Yorkers and other Americans directly affected by 9-11,my heart goes out to you. I'm sure this stirs up your fears. I'm sorry you lost loved ones who were never able to be recovered.

I just logged on and found this thread. I can't believe this happened! I'm glad to hear that the London TCS members are ok. I'm praying that the terrorism will stop. This makes no sense. I don't know what the terorists think they are accomplishing by killing innocent people who have no political power.

I did a quick search and Shem did post in another thread at 6am this morning, so she is safe. Hopefully her family and friends are ok too!
