The first question is this: My older cat is making this noise like he's coughing. It's a very dry-sounding noise. He makes the noise, then stops and acts fine, but I'm worried. He' never hacked up a hairball or anything, so I'm wondering if that's what it is or if I should rush him to the kitty ER.

The other question is Dory, our female, got spayed about two months ago. I have to take her in tomorrow to have an internal stitch removed that is infected. I'm really scared that she's going to die b/c of this stupid stitch. I'm worried that the stitch has grown into her internal organs or something and they won't be able to remove and and they'll have to put her to sleep. Please tell me you've been through this before!

First of all calm down and breathe. Your kitty more than likely has hairballs and just needs some hairball remedy to help him out. You can even buy the dry food for cats with hairball issues, if you don't want to use the laxatone or petamalt.

Talk to your vet before the initial procedure on your other cat. Tell him or her your worst fears and let him reassure you that this happens from time to time- Your cats will pick up your stress quickly so you just need to calm down.
