hi i have a british shorthair blue and i would like to get her registered with CFA. However, her ancestry comes from mating between different colours of british shorthair. I wonder if this is allowed and recognised by CFA. I also heard that CFA does not recognises lilac coloured british shorthair and there is a lilac one in my cat's 5th ancestry.

i hoped i made my point clear.. heh...

How did you purchase your cat? Did you get this kitty from a breeder? In order to register your cat, you will need to contact the breeder and ask her to provide you with a registration form. Only the breeder can do this for you as she will also have had to register the litter your cat was out of - and she will have to provide the information about his parents as well as her breeder information in order to provide that to you.

i do have the pedigree cert and cert of ownership from the breeder transferring the name to me. However, the cattery is not registered directly to CFA, onli to a some western australia cat association (forgotten the name) which is an affliate with CFA. i read from somewhere that it is possible to register single cats with CFA. maybe i will post pics of the certs that i have with me soon..

Hi..

I also have same problem with u.I ask CFA already and she said yes....if 5th generation got colour point, chocalate or lilac they wont accept ur cat register with them.
Some of breeder in Australia not directly register with CFA,coz there got alot of cat club that allfiate with TICA,CFA or FIFe.Yes..of couse when u register with cat club the colour are acceptable. But not in CFA.
Why not u register ur British with TICA or FiFe bcoz they accept colourpoint.

TICA is a bit more, I don't want to say lenient, rather liberal I guess in their registration policies. Generally it seems to be easier to get new breeds or colors started there, so I'd think this would also be true of cross-registering, i.e. more likely to allow the unusual colors in the background. My kids are CFA registered Maine Coons, but I know that to register them also with TICA all I have to do is get a certified pedigree of, I think, at least 3 generations from CFA.
