Hello,

This looks like a great forum...very glad to have found it today. My family and I are new to the cat world, so we have lots to learn! Several months ago we got our first cat, Boomer:

Boomer is a Pixie-Bob. He's quite young in the photo above, but here he is at 6 months:

Several days ago, we got a second little pixie-bob kitty (now 12 weeks old) to keep Boomer company...so, once we name him and take some pictures, i'll be sure to introduce him to you all. For now, I'm just reading up on all the great tips on this site on how to properly integrate the two kittens harmoniously...cuz right now, they're not thrilled with each other.

I wonder if Boomer would ease up on him if he knew that the newcomer is his "brother from another mother"

Bye for now,
-Chris

Welcome to TCS!
Boomer is such a cutie, no wonder he feels that he needs to make sure the new guy knows who's TopCat in your house! I love Boomer's markings - he reminds me of a lynx!

Hello Chris.dg. Welcome to the CatSite

DaddyCat and I have four cats; Dubya, Basia, Jewel, and Tiger. Dubya and Basia are 4 1/2 years old and Jewel and Tiger are a little over a year old. Basia was adopted from the detroit animal shelter and Dubya we adopted from Serenity Vetinarian Hospital. Jewel we adopted after happening upon a van from the Detroit Animal Shelter one sunny afternoon....we saw her and just knew we had to have her. Tiger was found outside of our apt. last November freezing and hungry. I happened to be going to my car when I noticed this little meow and I saw this beautiful little kitty kneading the ground...her paws frozen so badly. It took my husband and I three days to catch her but boy are we ever glad we did!! She is so adorable and all of your kitties get along great!!

We have decided no more kitties but of course if another one does come along outside and needs help, we will be there for him/her!

Welcome again and I hope to hear more kitty stories from you soon! You cats are beautiful!

Hello Chris, fellow Pixie-Bob owner, welcome to the site
My wife and I have 4 Pixie Bobs; Aurora, Lill Roar, TommyBoy and Cinnamon. Our first Pixie-Bob, Aurora, came from Carol Brewer, where did you get Boomer? He is beautiful
My wife and I are also the proud owners of 3 Bobcats; Amber, Boris and our 3rd and adopted boy from New York state. His name is Nakoma. Again, welcome to the site

John - Yes, I saw your photos yesterday...I was blown away by your bobcats!! Amazing. We got Boomer from Mary at Native Dream Pixie-Bobs. Most of her cats come from Carol's lines. In fact, Carol referred me to Mary. I bet Boomer is related to Aurora somewhere down the line...most of Boomer's ancestors are StoneIsland.

Our newest kitten is currently pictured on the Native Dream home page, photo dated 5/16/05. We're thinking about naming him "Deejay" or "Riley", but that may change.

Right now, the two cats are still fighting. They don't appear to have their claws extended, but they do attempt to (and occasionally succeed) bite each other legs and such. We currently limit their direct interation to about 30-60 minutes per day, and try to make the time satisfying - with toys and food, etc... they do quite well for a while, but after about 10 minutes or so, they start to chase each other and it gets more and more aggressive. It's often the little one that goes back for more and ends up annoying Boomer. It eventually ends in a hissing and biting fest - with Boomer usually pinning the little guy down - he appears to be going for the jugular.
Then we separate them. Anyway, we'll continue to follow the tips and hopefully all will be well soon.

How long did it usually take for your Pixie Bobs to acclimate to each other, and does the biting behavior above sound typical?

By the look in Boomers face, I can tell there is Carol's bloodline in there. Aurora may be related. It would be interesting to see if she is.
As for the biting a rough play, that is just normal behavior in cats. Our Aurora still thinks she is queen of the house, even with 2 bobcats running around inside, Nakoma lives outside.
