I have a problem with making my 4 and one half week old siamese use the litter box. Mum does not like the organic litter that I give them. She will not use it so the babies do not use it. I keep the babies in our large bathtub and they have a box. Mom and my other two siamese have used Tidy Cats Multiple Cats for their entire lives. Should I give them the Tidy Cats or is it too dangerous?
Also, the kittens will lap KMR but they do not want to eat moist Royal Canin Baby Cat food. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can feed them?

They are pretty young, but they will follow mom- so I would just switch to a plain clay litter for now. Many cats will not use organic cat litter because of the overpowering smell (to them) and the unnatural feeling of the stuff under their pads.

Try your kittens on straight dry food- just break it up with a hammer first, unless you are feeding BabyCat34 which is made for tiny little kitty teeth- But again, they should just now be moving off mom's milk onto solid food, so give it some time-

PS. I only keep the babies in the bathtub when I cannot watch them . Other wise they have free reign of the main part of the house.

You might want to try canned food watered down so it's very soupy then they can lap it up just like their milk. I mixed the canned with kitten milk and each day made it a little thicker within a week there were eating canned food with no water added.

I used clay litter, four of them jumped right in and used it. One kept pooping on the floor so I would pick up the poop and put it in the box, he soon got the idea.

Is Tidy Cats Multiple Cats Immediate Odor Control safe? It is not scoopable. One of the kittens just ate a mouthful of it.
Also, I am trying to get them to eat Royal Cannan Baby Cat 34.
Also, do you think think that it is safe for them to stay in a safe bedroom on the floor rather than the bathtub.

I have used Tidy Cats Multiple Cats litter for litter-training little ones with no problem. If Mom and the others use it consistantly, then try it for the babies. At 4 and a half weeks, they will see Mom using it and learn from her example.

With regard to food, I am not able to get Royal Canin nearby me, I would have to order it shipped in. I do have ready access to Nutro and I have used that with little to no problem at all. I like the Natural Choice in the small cans for the babies and I mix it with a little warm water to make it soupy.

Thanks for the advice. The kittens started using Tidy Cats as soon as I put it in. Mom and kittens just didnt like the organic litter.
As for the food situation, I just needed to give it a little time. They have been eating the Royal Canin Baby Food.

Good! I was ~finally~ able to find a retailer for the Royal Canin and got a little sample bag of the Kitten 35 to give to Lexus as she is *crossing fingers* hopefully pregnant ... I have heard wonderful things about it and am thinking of switching my own cats from the Nutro.

My cats seem to love Royal Canin. I got the Royal Canin Baby 35 because I know how important it is for kitten development, but mom and my other two adults love it too. They try to eat the kittens food. All three of my adults have their choice of Nine Lives, Purina Kitten Chow, and the Royal Cannin baby food, and they always choose Royal Canin.
Does anyone know where I can get it for a discounted price? In the Petsmarts in Florida one small bag is 13 dollars, and one bag does not go far in my house.
