waterless bathing for my older kittie

Hello everyone. I posted a question back in May and got such a wonderful response that I thought I'd proposed yet another question to you all.

I have 2 older kitties (14 and 1/2) and they just aren't grooming themselves like they used to. The coats are looking greasy I guess. They are indoor cats and rarely do I let them outside.

I don't want to tramatize them with a traditional bath but I'd like to clean them up a bit. I've seen the "pet wipes" in the stores but I wondered if there was anything else that I could try that might spiff them up a bit.

Please let me know your thoughts and ideas!

Thanks so much.

From past experience with my cat Candy (who is nearly 19yrs old now and an inside/outside cat) we basically just brush her a lot to keep her fur knot free. She likes to be brushed but we still have to be gentle with her as she is so skinny we don't want the brush to irritate her skin.

She is rarely washed as she will not tolerate it, but when she is my mum uses a warm cloth and just wipes her face over and paws etc. I don't think there is really an easier way especially when they are elderly and fragile.

Yes, my vet sold me waterless shampoo for cats.
It's called Pet Cleanse, and basically you massage it into dry fur, then brush your cat, and that's it. I am using it on my cats.

Before I was abled to get my cats used to baths, I first gave them a "sponge bath". Just using a wash cloth and warm water to wipe their fur.

wow! thank you all so much for the responses! I'll check with the vet and see if they sell anything like that. I'll also check with my local pet supply store for such items. =c)

All the best!
