I picked up two ten week old kittens on Sunday, Alfie and Max. They are both settled in perfectly, running around, playing, purring, sleeping fine, no lethargy or anything. However, Max turns his nose up at wet food and just nibbles on biscuits and where he is smaller than Alfie I am concerned he's not eating enough. Are they too young for proper meat like chicken? I put some tuna down yesterday (which I know I shouldn't give too often) and they both loved it!

I have an appointment with the vet on Friday for their first vaccinations, so I'll ask him then if Max is ok, but just after ideas in the meantime. The man who raised them was feeding them adult food which I think may be part of the problem, now that I have switched them to kitten food.

i would buy 1. organic chicken breast, 2. cut it up into tiny pieces, 3. mix in some of the canned food, 4. sprinkle on Kitty Kaviar 5. mix all well, and 6. feed raw. also, you can mix some KMR into it to get extra nutrients. I bet he will love this! dont let your vet convince you, if he/she tries, that cats should not eat raw food. this is what i do and both my cats aged 2 and 12 weeks love it. also you can mix small amounts of tuna into their regular canned food to entice him.

I've just got back from the supermarket and fed them a ripped up chicken breast, they loved it! Great idea about mixing in with the normal food, I'll give that a try next. Cat milk also seems to be going down quite well so far!

Made me so happy to see little Max eating a lot. He's now running around with his brother like a complete nutter

Can cats get all their necessary nutrients from raw food?

good he is eating. if you give them complete raw food, ie a whole carcass, but i dont think you would, would u? Thats why mixing in canned food is needed in order to get other nutrients. there is this stuff called "call of the wild" from wysong that should also do the trick.

I will continue to try with the pet food, but in the meantime I'm planning on just feeding anything Max will eat. Hopefully if I mix pet food with raw, he'll come round to the idea! I'm also going to try the highest grade food I can find, see if he just has a refined palette!
