1 year and 3 months ago the pet I considered my best friend .... Muggins passed away at the age of 19. I have had an extremley difficult time dealing with her loss but I am finding that just reading all the other posts are helping somehow. I am writing about her more to tell everyone how wonderful she was. Never have I met another animal that was so kind and gentle and who loved to watch "Winnie the Pooh" on TV.

The day she passed was a beautiful warm spring day.. and I remember thinking that everyone in the world should know that her beautiful spirit had left us, and that life would never be as sweet without her in it.

Everyday gets better and it is true that time helps the healing process ...but I never want to forget her..she is irreplaceable and will always have a place in my heart.

Thanks for listening

It took me over a year to stop crying over my Beloved Minnie and it was only when SHE (at least I think it was Minnie as they are so alke) sent me Kotton, that my world started to get better. Benji hurt as much as I did over Schatzi's loss so that helped but my Little Miss Incredible Corkie ---- i have never had time to come to terms with losing her as just like when the other's died and she would get sick and I would have to concentrate on HER, my Benji is now ill and I am having to worrry about him!

Yes time WILL heal but sometimes time stands still and then at times you really don't want to "get over them" but to keep their memory alive in your head always.

I am deeply sorry that you lost your best friend and cat Muggins.

Just because you will heal doesn't mean you will ever lose the memories, it just means you will think more often of the sweet memories, and will sometimes remember her with a smile, not tears. Each loss can affect different people differently, so do not be afraid to grieve in your own way. 19 years is such a long time, I hope to be able to keep some of my sweet babies for that long! (Not that it seemed long enough to you, I'm sure!)

It never fails to amaze me just how deeply our cats impact our lives. As much as we cherish and love them while they live, the loss of them shatters our world so much greater than we could ever prepare ourselves for. You were so very blessed to spend so many years with your Muggins! Even so, you would much agree that it was not enough time.

I hope by expressing your feelings and memories of Muggins you can find some semblence of comfort in your grieving.

Still Hittin' 'Em Right Between The Eyes
The Purry Gates

It seems that I've reached Heaven,
or it's doorstep at any rate,
and been winding round St. Peter's ankles
by the Pearly Gates,
I've plucked the angels' harp strings
and made a merry sound,
But it's plucking at my heartstrings
that you are not around.

So I think I'll sit and wait here,
just outside the door,
And as the souls come floating in,
I'll tap them with my paw,
And when you seek admittance,
they'll rename this place -
It will become Purradise,
and these the Purry Gates!
