Anyone know of a dry food that doesn't contain corn? My picky kitties have only ever liked Iams Dry, but that stuff is full of fillers--plus Iams tests on animals, so I'm desperately trying to find something to slowly switch to. Oliver has always had dry skin and Emma also has occasionally "itchy" spots, so I want to cut out corn and see if that helps.

I know Newman's has a new line of cat food out that doesn't contain corn, and can find it near me, but its probably crazy expensive. As much as I'd love the kits to eat well have to feed myself and my husband too! LOL!

Anyone know of a brand that can be bought @ Petsmart or Petco that is good? I also have Whole Foods and Trader Joe's near me--Whole Foods has a great canned variety but I'm not sure about the dry food....

Nutro contains corn glutan not the ground corn ... most kittys can for some reaseon handle gluten when the whole kernal cause issues... Royal canin s sensible choice is the same way.. natural balence contains no corn barley and potato instead( i like there allergy formula )... proplan has their "natural formula I believe is corn free... All of these should be found at The big P stores

If I am not clear ask a way

But I would recommend other stuff before the Nutro line (I don't recommend Max Cat, by the way), such as California Natural. No corn as far as I can see (though I don't know if you can find it at Petsmart or Petco; I found it at Global Pet Foods)

California Natural Chicken & Rice Dry:
1. Chicken
2. Chicken Meal
3. Ground Brown Rice
4. Chicken Fat
5. Sunflower Oil
6. Flaxseed
7. Vitamins/Minerals
8. Taurine

There's also the Pinnacle brand, though I don't know if you can find it at Petsmart or Petco (I'm getting these ingredient list off the Natura site's ingredient comparing thing)

1. Chicken Meal
2. Whole Oats
3. Chicken
4. Ocean Fish
5. Oat Bran
6. Chicken Fat
7. Quinoa
8. Grapeseed Oil
9. Dried Eggs
10. Cottage Cheese
11. Cranberries
12. Lecithin
13. Brewer's Dried Yeast
14. Taurine
15. Yucca Schidigera

You can check out other brands' ingredient lists at: http://naturapet.com/display.php?d=comp-wiz&animal=Cat

I know Innova definitely doesn't contain corn. However, my cats got sick on Innova EVO. The original Innova is much better than Innova EVO in my opinion.

Unfortunately, you can not get California Natural at Petco or Petsmart, given that, I would then say as Sharky suggested, going with the Nutro Natural.

If you can afford it, you could also consider Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea dry food - ingredients are: INGREDIENT LISTING:
Venison, Whole Dried Green Peas, Venison Meal, Canola Oil, Venison Liver, Natural Flavor, Phosphoric Acid, Choline Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Kelp, DL Methionine, Salmon Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Lysine, Rosemary Extract, Dried Parsley, plus added taurine, vitamins and minerlas.

The vension is the allergy formula... Mine like it for "cookies"... It si avail only at Petco and a few feed and specialty foods stores (that is here)

If you suspect an allergy to corn I would also avoid foods containing corn gluten meal as it is the protein/gluten in foods that most often causes the reaction.

I think the NB venison formula would be a good one to try. I've been very happy with the NB ultra formula.
