Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum; I wasn't sure where to put it, and maybe it would help all of us with kittens. Of course, please move it if it's in the wrong place. Anyway:

Pepsi's babies are eight weeks old now. I know the time is coming when we will need to find them good homes. I already plan to have a spay/neuter contract with instructions to give back the kitties if the new owners can't keep them or find good homes for them. What would be nice, though, is a printed sheet with tips for cat ownership, things that new pet owners (or even people who have had cats) might not know. Things like signs of illness in a cat, and that responding to meowing reinforces it (I
when my kitties talk to me, but I know not everyone does), and that they really shouldn't play with hands or strings ... stuff like that. Does anyone know of a good "advice sheet" like that? Or, barring that, what tips do y'all think I should include if I have to make it myself?

One more thing: what's the best cure for the
I know I'll feel after they are gone? These little guys have completely stolen my heart.

For the advice sheet, I would put all you have in there, plus their current eating habits, what litter they currently use, treats, etc.

As for them leaving. I know how you feel. I've gone through it a few times myself, and I'm about to go through it with Mirah. My mom said no, and I have to give her up. Mirah is the most cuddliest kitten I've ever seen, and she stole my heart days before she was even born. It's very hard to say goodbye, and there is nothing I can say that'll make it easier. I've tried distancing myself from them, but it's better for them to leave feeling loved and secure, than for them to leave feeling unloved, and unsecure, and scared. So, I let my heart break, rather than theirs. You won't forget them, and the worse part is the first 3 hours after they are gone, but you will realize it's best, and though you miss them, you know you couldn't keep them. And don't forget, that TCS is here for support.

Our rescue has used these from Paws of Chicago:

I find them all to be quite useful. Also....you may want to download an application to use....best friends has one at the end of the "Finding homes for homeless pets" PDF that you can find on my webpage:

You may also want to consider microchipping.
