My cat has a runny nose. I can hear it is stuffed as she inhales.

She has diabetes that I just started to treat and due to her diabetes, she has some advanced liver damage.

Is there anything I can give her for the runny nose in this situation?

Thank you.

Apart from easing the symptoms by using an inhaler of the kind you set up for children to ease their breathing through steam, I would not treat her with any medications without vet advice. Assuming she is on meds for her other problems, It could be dangerous to mix them, and she may well need some antibiotics to rid herself of this cold. It sounds as if her immune system is low, natural if she has some long term serious sicknesses. I hope you can help her.

You might ask your vet about adding some lysine to her food (or giving it to her directly--it also comes in a paste/gel in a syringe). I've personally had luck with giving my senior hyperthyroid cat interferon daily. He hates it with a passion, so I follow-up with food, but it certainly helps his runny nose and sneezing.

I would check with your vet about her. I would not treat her with anything without your vet's advice first. A runny nose could be the precursor to other illnesses- so don't self-treat an already health-compromised cat.
