Anyone ever fed the Whole Foods store brand cat food to their kits before? I was at the store the other day and was curious about them, so I bought two of the 3 oz cans for Olly and Emma to "sample" and they really seemed to like them!
Here's the ingredients listed in the can I gave them last night the "Tuna and Crab":
Tuna, crab meat, fish broth, xanthan, potassium chloride, methionine, choline chloride, taurine, iron sulphate, zinc sulphate, vitamin e supplement, manganese sulphate, vitamin b1 supplement, vitamin b2 supplement, vitamin d3 supplement, folic acid.

I was pleased not to see any corn or wheat byproducts in there. Both the kits are finicky eaters who have only seemed to consisently enjoy Iams products, which I know are chock full of corn and fillers, and not the best choice for them nutritionally in the long run.

The other reason I was intrigued by the Whole Foods brand is that it's $.49 a can for the 3 oz can which is not that much more than Iams. Some of the other brands I've priced have seemed crazy-expensive.

If anyone knows anything about that ingredient list and whether the things listed are good/not so good let me know. Additionally, if anyone knows of a brand that is nutritionally sound and around the same price point, let me know as well. Ideally I'd like to feed them dry food as the majority of their diet and have them share a 3 oz can of wet food once a day.

Any help would be appreciated!

i was going to mention the Pet Gold Elite as well, which is the PetCo house brand. the cans are $0.50 with a P.A.L.S. card, 59 cents without it.

i've switched to the Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea dry food as Kirby was suspected of having a food allergy (was feeding Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Indoor and Royal Canin Indoor). so in an attempt to find canned foods that didn't have the ingredients common to those dry foods (chicken, turkey, various grains), i gave the Pet Gold Elite cans a try again. Kirby is really liking them. i've found two that don't have any grains, Tuna with Crab Surimi and Tuna with Shrimp. the others all have rice, but it's like whole grains at the bottom (as opposed to ground up with everything else), so it's possible to spoon out just the fish and not the rice.

even the regular seafood varieties of the Pet Gold cans (Sardines & ...) seem pretty good, though Kirby wasn't a fan of the & Mackerel.

Haha! There is a Whole Foods where I live (Union Square - NYC), and the catfood here is more like 65 cents a can.
