About a week ago I posted that my wife and I got a new [female] kitten and that our older male hissed and ran away from her. A lot of you thought they would eventually get along, and suggested taking it slow and easy. We've mostly kept the kitten isolated in a separate room, only letting her out for short periods. We even tried the perfume trick. I'm sorry to report that things are worse. It looked like the male was calming down a bit, but then he peed on our bed last night [something he would never do], and the kitten pooped on the couch [something she'd never done before]!

My wife and I both work and are far too busy to deal with this problem. It looks like the kitty has to go back to the pound [where she will quickly be adopted again as the kittens are very much in demand]. However, I thought I'd post just to see if anyone else has had this unfortunate experience.

Thanks

Yes. It is probably a jelousy problem but many cats just want to be in 1 cat households. if you are both gone all day taking the kitten back is unfortunate but probably for the best in the long run. 'Twere best done quickly though before you get anymore attached to the little fuzzball.

Yeah, I guess I'd have to agree. This problem can be overcome, but it's something that would take a big time committment, so if you're both working all day, I think you're doing the best thing for the kitten and yourself.
