Southern Ontario meet up

Hey everyone,

Since there are quite a few of us within a couple hours drive of the GTA, I was thinking about organizing an afternoon meet up in Toronto, sometime near the end of August.

If anyone has a good suggestion for a place to meet, let me know! I think it would great to meet other TCS'ers in person, and I'm sure it would be good times all around.

I'd love to meet some other Cat Site folks. How about something outdoors, to have a picnic? The Islands? Some other park?

I would love a "meet-up" but I would prefer someplace closer to the 401, say around the airport area. There are lots of sports bars in that area and it would be better for persons just outside the GTA not to have to go "downtown".

I'm in Hamilton, so pretty accessible to the airport area, as well as downtown TO. (We have great GO train service). I would prefer something toward the west GTA, if we're not going downtown.

Hey guys....I would be interested in a meet-up, too. Perhaps for a weekend lunch or dinner?
I'm in Newmarket, so I have no problem with the area you guys are talking about. I also know Februa from this site in person, so I can try to see if she'll come.

I live between Guelph and Acton so the "west" end would be great for me also.

Thanks everyone for your input. I would like to see some more responses from other members too. I know you're out there!

If we have the meet out by the airport, perhaps there's some form of transport that doesn't 2 hours to get there (forget the TTC!!!). I imagine most of us here in the city don't own cars.

I'm in peterborough...so it seems i'm the only one east of the city. I guess if it's no where near rush hour then it shouldn't be a huge deal!

I don't have much booked into August yet. I am interested. I'll be coming down from Peterborough so along the 401 somewhere would be ideal I don't really care if its east or west end.

Renny and "Furniture" - since you're both coming from Peterborough maybe you could meet up and travel together.

Perhaps those who don't have a car could go to York Mills Subway station and someone could just pop off the 401 to pick you up and give you a lift to the meeting destination.

If it's on a weekend there should be no rush-hour traffic, although construction can really slow down traffic but there's no avoiding that I'm afraid.

That sounds like so much fun, but I don't plan on going to the GTA until the September long weekend and that is a maybe. I was just there for the long weekend.

Yosemite, I was at that camp ground in Rockwood. I didn't even know about the place before, but it was so beautiful!!

Sounds like you guys will have fun. I know ours in June was! Keep us updated!

I'm going to be away from July 26 until August 10. Sundays are good for me, other than the Sundays in those dates. (I'm going to Newfoundland, for the very first time. Final province that I have not visited).

Oh, I hope that you all can get your TCS together arranged! And then, if you do it again next year, I could try to attend - my hubby & I go annually to Michigan, to visit his folks, and I get to go to Ontario. I love it there, although I haven't gone to Toronto yet. I'm from California, and Michigan is nice, but I just LOVE Ontario. Last year, we got to attend Canada Day - what a BLAST!! Every little town had a big celebration going on, so many festivities, so much fun!! And the people are so outgoing and friendly!! Plus, I meet so many cats on my touring up there - people are really cat-friendly in that area, it seems. I've met museum host-cats, farm cats, town cats, & of course, all their wonderful owners...In fact, I haven't renewed my passport yet, so since I couldn't go to Canada this year, I stayed home & had a TCS vacation!

Yes, the Rockwood Conservation Area is lovely. Steve Martin and the movie crew were there the week before last shooting part of the sequel to Cheaper by the Dozen so when you folks see the movie and see a lake with canoeing, or whatever, that's less than 5 minutes from my house.

Has anyone narrowed the date for this get together down yet? I want to make sure I can get off work lol.

I would love to go but that's too far for me
