hey everyone
my 3 month old male kitten loves to sit on my lap when im on my computer, the only problem is when he wants to come up here he runs and jumps and lands on my lap. 90% of the time my leg ends up bleeding and even when it doesnt it still hurts alot. anyone else have this problem, any ideas on how to stop this behaviour?

thanks

Wear long pants? Trim his nails? Unless you want to discourage him from jumping into your lap, but most people want a cat that likes being in their lap.

yea, there isnt too much you can do. Besides declawing.... which isnt a real answer. or just picking the kitty up before he has a chance to jump.

You could teach him to jump up on the table instead of your lap. But as someone else said here, he will grow out of jumping with his claws out. Meanwhile, trim them regularly.

When I sense Nano is priming herself to leap onto my lap, I grab the towel I leave on the couch and just put it over my legs. She is learning to be more careful with her claws but I think you always run the risk of the phone ringing or someone knocking on the front door -- which will send Nano going on insta-alert...which means the claws come out as she leaps down to the floor to sort out what that sudden loud sound could mean.
