It has been for the past 3 years just me and my cat...and my boyfriend on the weekends of course...but we are building a house and will be living together very soon. I was considering getting another cat for the house at the beginning of the year but i need some advice. My yasmine is very spoiled, vocal, tempermental, snooty and territorial! She never leaves my sight...she might be in another room but she can always see me no matter what! lol Anyways, i am worried about getting another cat. I think it would be good for her to have another around...but i dont want to upset her too much. I was also curious to if it mattered since she was female, to which sex i should get. I've read up on how to introduce them but i'm just not quite sure if i'm doing the right thing by "invading" her space. Any advice?

You will get different opinions about whether it is best to bring in a male or female. My opinion is that personality is more important than gender when it comes to deciding whether two cats will get along.

If you decide to adopt a new cat, please read this thread which gives advice on how to introduce a new cat to your resident cat.

Good luck!
