Lacey, I've suffered from vertigo myself. The episodes lasted for a full year. Every day. The imbalance and vomiting can not be described since there is nothing to compare it to.

I've had a cervical and spinal fusion to my neck and back, and I can honestly say, that I'd go through having those 8 screws and 3 plates re-done than go through another episode of a vertigo attack.

It is truly the worse thing a human being can experience!

I'll say a prayer for your Mom.

P.S.: There are excercises that are done to reset the crystals in the inner ear. If your Mom hasn't been given them, I will gladly email them to you. I still have them, just in case!

Lacey, I'm so pleased that your mom was able to anticipate this attack, and I hope Juicy keeps up the good work!!! I've seen the toll vertigo takes on loved ones, and I hope I never have to find out firsthand.
The problem with Meniere's is that it can't be definitively diagnosed; it's more of a "Well, you have these symptoms, and they're not this or this or that, so it must be Meniere's." My ex-hubby was suspected of having Meniere's when he developed unexplained vertigo. No amount of inner-ear treatment, stress-relief regimen or antibiotics could alleviate them entirely, and he eventually had to change jobs (he was a pilot at the time). Fortunately his was pretty mild, I only recall him confessing to one bout of vomiting (after he was grounded).

it's sad!
Hooray for Juicy!
My Mom had her first attack several years ago..we were leaving the house & she started falling down, vomiting. It was so scary, nobody knew at the time what it was. She was sick for WEEKS. It turns out that my older sister may have had it, too..she lost her job because they thought she was coming in drunk,(she wasn't) & it could have been Meniere's all along.

Thanks so much everyone. Cheryl, that would be great if you could email me those. I'll PM you my email address.

Well, I went out with friends last night and got home a little after midnight. My dad was awake and came to tell me that my mom was having another episode. Bless her heart, it was so pitiful. It lasted probably another 45 minutes and then she was able to get some more sleep.

My dad wakes up to work out at 4:30 every morning. Shortly after he left I woke up to my mom screaming my name. She needed me to bring her one of her Antavert (spelling) pills for the dizziness. She was having another episode. It broke my heart watching her for over an hour. As soon as she took the pill for dizziness it came back up. I felt so bad not being able to do anything for her besides just sit with her.

I ended up having to take her to the hospital around 11 this morning and we were there until after 2:00. They hooked her up to an IV and gave her fluids since she was so dehydrated, and gave her some more stuff through the IV for nausea and dizziness. It was exhausting for me, and probably 10 times more exhausting for her.

So...we hoped yesterday's episode would be the last one for a while, but we were wrong. Now I'm just praying that they don't keep happening.

Please send some vibes, prayers her way. She could really use some.

I'm sending healing vibes for your mother. The poor thing. I had an episode when I was about 20 where I didn't feel good and went to bed. The next morning I couldn't move without getting dizzy and vomiting. I was hysterical when my parents took me to the hospital because I was so dizzy, disoriented, and scared. The doctors never did figure out what was wrong other than my inner ears had swollen. Most terrifying time of my life. The idea of living with that happening again is horrible so my heart goes out to your mother.

Lacey your Mom should NOT take her pill unless she's taking a suppository for her nausea (RX name: Compazine)

Also, I've emailed you those exercises. They help 70% of episodes ever returning. Even though they might they are less frequent moreso than before.
