Good vibes for Ellie please

Tomorrow Ellie goes to have a second blood test done to check her rabies immunity. SHe failed the first one as she didn't have enough antibodies. She needs this certificate of immunity to get her EU passport so that I can take the cats home with me. The others passed first time, so a few vibes for Ellie would be appreciated!

Naturally I'm sending Ellie good vibes, but I have to admit that I'm confused. I thought that the antibody test was only necessary for Britain, Ireland, and one or two Scandinavian countries. Isn't it enough to show that she's been vaccinated to get her into France, even if it's via Italy, Hungary, Austria, etc.?

THanks, everyone. At least this time I am only taking her to the vet faculty to have the test, not to my friend's house, where the dogs attacked her last time. ANd no, unfortunately since last October EU rules say a cat/dog must be vaccinated, tested for immunity and then wait three months AFTER immunity is certified before travel. For the UK, Ireland and Sweden it is even worse.

Oh, what a pain! If she doesn't show immunity, can they give her another booster shot?

I hope this all works out for you with plenty of time before the travel!

She had another booster after the first failure so we are hoping, the vet and I, that it has taken this time! Anyway, the test sample is now on its way to the lab in Vienna, and I will get the result in a week or so. Fortunately (in a way) I have decided to stay here another year, so from now on the only thing is to keep them up to date with the shots and the passports will stay valid.

Thanks for the info, Jenny! I guess it depends on whether the animal comes from, and is moving to, a Continental EU country, or is from "outside". Either that, or some countries are a bit lax about enforcing the rules. Come on, Ellie - build up those antibodies!
