OK, I guess someone is trying to tell me something. Last Wed at 6am I was awakened by a call from a wrong number.
This morning, at the precise moment my 6am alarm went off (I have an appt I must be dashing off to shortly) the SMOKE ALARMS went off!!!! They're all hard-wired and interconnected, so if one goes off, they ALL go off. But, there was NO smoke, not even a hint. So I got the stepstool and punched the button on the nearest one (outside the guest br I'm currently using) and they all went quiet -- for about 20 seconds.
Now I'm figuring it must be another one in the house that's causing problems, so I haul the stepstool upstairs with me, trying to plug both ears with my one free arm, and I have two or three cats and Cinnamon underfoot going "Make it STOP Mom, make it STOP!!" and I'm thinking the very same thing!!!! I mash the button on the one in the master - nothing happens. I go to the spare room and punch that one, same result. While I'm up on the step, Pansy comes up and bites my heel! like it's MY fault the noise is hurting her ears - I'M the one with my ear three feet away from the bloody thing!!!!!
I come back downstairs with the stool and punch the button on the original offender, and -- silence. Blessed silence!!!

I'll have to dig thru mom's ppwk this afternoon and see if she still has the manuals for these bloody alarms! I know it ain't the backup batteries, I checked them just a couple weeks ago and replaced one. ARGH! my ears are still ringing!

I cracked up through reading that whole post!!! ESPECIALLY when you said Pansy bit you!!! You're a good writer, that cracked me up!!!

Glad you got it to stop! Of course you couldn't get it to stop by the first or the second oned...had to be the last one you check!!! That would have been my luck too!!!

I'm still cracking up picturing that scene in my head!!!

I had to laugh at Pansy as well

My house alarm went off after 3.a.m a few weekends ago. Rosie and Sophie ran to the far end of the room because when the house alarm goes off the siren sounds inside as well as outside, and it's LOUD!!!

A few weeks ago the alarm on the top of the stairway was chirping at like one 1:00 am.
Why would DH get up and fix. Noooooooooooooooo I had to get a chair and reach for the da** thing and yank out the battery... What a piercing noise!!

Well of course it is, silly! you wouldn't need to check anything after that!

See, the chirping I can deal with - it only does that like once every 60 secs, and only the one w/the bad battery. But all four going off at once, AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, now THAT's ear-splitting!

What a horrible wake-up call!! I hope that you got to go back to bed for a few more zzz's, or at least get an afternoon nap in!

I know code calls for the d*** things to be hardwired, but I used to hate the ones in our trailer! If I cooked anything the least bit smoky, off they'd go! I was constantly yanking the darn things out of the wall (thus unplugging them) as there was no other way to stop them!
