OK heres my problem.. my stupid HP US 2100's power cord plug is loose and doesn't charge right all the time without me wiggling it to get it to charge.. my battery isn't holding a charge anymore so I'm constantly charging every 10 minutes. does anyone know how i can fix this without having to tear the whole thing apart?
My friend simon is an IT guy and repares computers but he's away until next week in florida! Im afraid its going to totally break before then and johns power cord has died so we're sharing a cord until he gets a new one. When I get enough money saved up i guess ill get a new battery too but im trying to find a quick fix for now.. lol why cant anything ever just work right!?
Thanks!

definitely if the computer is still under warranty i'd call HP or bring the computer to a customer service center. my husband had a problem with his battery just before his warranty ran out and HP sent him a new one.

If the place where you plug the power cord is loose, it sounds like exactly what you said: the battery isn't getting a consistent charge and is now running down. Sounds like you need to get that fixed.

I'd suggest going to your local "mega computer" store and get a power chord that is adaptable to your particluar model - hopefully that will get you a good charge. If not, time for a new battery.

There's two issues here. If your battery hasn't been getting a full charge and then being used, it can shorten the life of your battery by giving it a "memory". Once a bettery has that it won't hold a full charge anymore. So yes, you may likely need a new battery like you say. Some batteries are designed not to get a memory from interrupted charging and use, but I can't recall which kind. Do you know the point at which you have to jiggle the cord to make it connect properly? If it is the actual cord, then there is a risk of it shorting out and having a quick burst of flame errupt from it. I've actually witnessed that first hand with a cord from a hair dryer. It was fixed by cutting into it, cutting off the frayed section and splicing it back into the base of the dryer. It would probably be better for you to just get a new power cord Stacy.

Its not the cord that is bad though because we use it on johns computer too and he doesnt have to jiggle it in his.. the female part of the jack where the plug goes in feel like its loose. Im afraid its going to break off one of these days and I wont be able to use my laptop at all!
