My cat has dandruff. I mean, it isn't very bad, but I'd like him not to have dander. His coat is very nice, I give him Halo Dream Coat and his fur is gorgeous. Can anyone suggest what to do with this danderific mess?

I dont know if it is the same situation as mine but when Lilo was pregnant and she was in her last couple of weeks... she started getting dandruff on the top of her tail and the bottom of her back. I asked her vet and he said that b/c she hadnt been feeling good and hadn't been grooming and also b/c she couldnt reach that area anymore (she had 7 kittens in there, she was too fat
) that it causes them to have dandruff.

Does your kitty still groom as usual?

I have a rubber based cat comb glove thing-a-ma-bob. I brush him at least once a day. His dander is usually from the base of his tale/back. I thought he was dragging up litter with him, but I was wrong. Is there any specific oils I can give him or does he have to wait it out?

He went to the vet yesterday for an URI and to get antibiotics. The vet didn't bring anything up about the dander, told me the cat was perfectly healthy except for the URI which he might have contracted from the Humane Society I got him from. He eats Nutro Natural Choice Weight Management and Iams Sensitive Systems diet. Right now he won't eat his kibble because of his antibiotics so I cooked him some ground organic turkey, an egg and some carrots (all boiled -- no salt). He ate that much.

some of the problem is likely not to much omega 6 the wt mgmt nutro is 2.5% the reg nutro is 4% .... I find that 3.5% is minimum for no danderuff...

I would try the nutro indoor when the antibiotics are over the l carnitine will more than make up for the extra fat , and it has 4% as well as good omega 3

for now try olive and or canla or sunflower oil.. I like olive because it has omega 3/6/9 balanced

Flax seed oil is a source of Omega oils, but I'd recommend fish oil as a better source for cat consumption. Mellie has a bit of a dandruff problem, and I buy Omega fish oil capsules at the health food store, make a hole in a capsule with a pin, and squirt the contents on her food. Works great to clear up that dandruff.
