What's your Pet Peeve?

Is there something that seems silly or insignficiant to other people but irritates you?

Leaf Blowers are my pet peeve.
They are loud. They use gas. They blow dust everywhere...they just don't work.

What's your pet peeve?

Wow! You must have known that I needed a thread like this!

I hate, hate, HATE, it when people cant take responsibility for their mistakes or their own job.

A prime example: I do bookkeeping work at a small contracting office. Well, we are in the end of our fiscal year. Tomorrow is the last day for me to do any work that can be posted before we close out the year. So I am stressed to the max, and very overwhelmed, because I get no help from "supervisor" as my daily requirements are expected to be reached as well. So, I am already stretched thin between home and work. Well, today, first thing this morning, a co-worker hands me a fax from a customer wanting a copy of his invoice considering that the invoice was charged to his credit card. At the time, I figured, ok, I can handle it, when it quickly occurred to me that I cant take on anything else. So, yeah, it was all over a stupid fax. This is the first time I had seen this fax. And technically, the sales person should handle that, considering they are in direct customer support, not me, but whatever. So, this afternoon, I give it to my supervisor and implore to her to please find/pull this file and fax the invoice to the customer. She proceeds to go down the hall and question why this co-worker couldnt do her own job. She was met with hostility. "Well, if she couldnt do it, than why didnt she tell me 2 weeks ago that she couldnt do it." Uh, no? How could I have sit on for 2 weeks, when it was only faxed on the 23rd of June, and you just gave it to me this morning, the 28th of June? My supervisor said that, and she said that I lied and that she had given it to me like, yesterday!
No, she did not. So, I got angry. And I stormed down to my bosses office, because of course, she had hightailed it outta there before I knew what was what. I go into his office and started fuming
I think that is every angry face I experienced with him. I did not want to fight with her, this is about work, and she had no right to make a personal stab at my moral. If I made the mistake, I would have been more than happy to admit it. But I make enough of my own mistakes, I dont need someone to help me with it. Thats her problem if she cant separate work from personal issues. So, I was pretty, ummm......LIVID. I still am a little mad about it because I dont think my boss is going to discuss this with her which is not right. Was I wrong to talk to him about it?

Hey! LOL... the best use for leaf blowers is to get grass clippings off the road & sidewalk. We don't use them to blow leaves though

I have several peeves... I'm trying to think of the worst...

Nope, so I guess I'll just list a few that come to mind...

-My husband's constant pausing while telling a story, takes him half an hour to get through one!
-People I've never seen before talking to me like I'm their good buddy in the elevator.
-The pronunciation of the letter R as "arrr-uh"
-People who don't follow obvious directions and get angry when they get an unexpected result
-Slow food service!

NO... there seems to be a couple of people in our office that won't admit when they make mistakes, or do it on purpose because they're lazy and hide it, or just flat out lie. It's simply not fair to the people putting in an honest day's work. If someone victimizes you like that, you make sure your boss knows so they can defend you if it ever causes a real problem!

OMG I thought Earl was the only one who did that! He has to SCREAM when he sneezes!
Thank god there isn't 5 of them, I probably would have killed him by now. And it's bad enough when I'm fully awake, but when he does it in bed when I'm half or fully asleep... He's lucky he hasn't been smacked involuntarily.

I have a lot of phone pet peeves since answering phones is part of my job:

* People who can barely speak English who are hired in an outgoing call center. For goodness sake, whether they are collecting money or selling something, nothing is going to be accomplished if no one can understand them!
* People who think the receptionist should know exactly how long meetings/other phone calls/lunch/site visits are going to take. I always wanted to ask them if they told their receptionist how long they would be on this phone call?
* People who give me their life freakin' story before asking for the person they want to talk to. Like I care or can help you with an engineering question on a jobsite?!?
* Telemarketing calls that tell you to "Please hold for an important message." If it's that important, have a real person call me back.
* Big wigs who have their secretaries call for someone else.
* People who just can't possibly stop their conversation long enough to make a phone call. The phone is answered within 2 rings, which is what like 10 seconds?
* Speakerphones. Enough said.

I hate that too! They blast their stereo and the trunk rattles. I think it sounds like someone is trapped inside the trunk kicking to get out.

l. Having to listen to music I dislike while I hold on the phone. (I prefer classical myself.)

2. Relatives who think they don't need to give me several days notice if they plan to come spend the day. (Man, I don't like to have to drop everything and spend all day cleaning if the house looks like it's been hit by a tornado! And I might have other plans for the time until the weekend!)

3. When a relative even hints that she wants to come and live with me.

4. When a relative puts on her frequent "poor me, I'm going to have to go live under a bridge if I get laid off" act when her income is more than I ever made while I was working and is more than double mine now that I'm retired. And I'm living quite nicely - but I did a little planning in advance, which she still hasn't done in her late 50s.

My pet peeve is when someone chomps their gum or eats in a sloppy, slurpy manner. It drives me absolutely insane!

Another is an open drawer or cabinet door. They must be closed!

Also, a full trash bin. Just empty the trash!

A pet peeve? How about people who never take the blame for anything wrong that they do, always pawning it off on something that's happened in their past?

The idiots who leave their dogs in the car while they go in to the A/Ced store to shop...how 'bout Fido going to Petco and leaving Mom in the car for awhile?

Or the parents who hit their 3 year olds while shopping at 11 at night because they're crying (and tired beyond belief)?

And lastly, the stupid, stupid, stupid morons who abandon their animals, with no thought for their well being. That goes beyond a peeve...it kills me.
