my cat sheala is going to be having babies...i have taken her in recently due to her pregnancy and prev owners keeping her outside...well...she was always a very scared cat and did not take to humans much but since i got her and have slowly introduced myself, she has been loving up to me bunches .... i know they do this when pregnant but i am hoping this will last even afterwards....if it doesnt what advice is there to help her warm up to ppl? im thinking she might have been abused

Take this golden opportunity to bond closely with this girl now, before she has her babies. Each and every time you can, love this girl up, talk to her in a clam, soothing voice and touch her gently ... hopefully, she will establish a strong trust bond now so that when the babies arrive, you will be able to assist and/or handle them if you need to.

Best of luck,

thank you but im afraid i am too late ... Sheala gave birth today to four kittens so far im unsure if there may be more....but i knew by the way she hissed when i walked in so im afraid she will be very protective with them ..i am going to spend a bit of time with her so she can see that im not going to hurt her babies.....im just sooooooo happy she is being a wonderful mother since this is her first litter

Congrats on the new arrivals ... Try just being in the same room as the litter for a period of time each day, several times per day. Move a little closer to the nest each day, but let Sheala's warnings be your guide. Don't move too abruptly and unless you have a death wish, don't reach into the nest or try to handle the babies until Sheala lets you know it is OK with her, which may take a while.

Once these babies are weaned, you should have Sheala spayed ASAP to prvent this from happening again.
