Well i finally have freda but im having a few problems,my bf didnt want me to confine her to a room on her on to introduce them because shes so old and not in very good health plus we dont have a suitable room for her so as you can imagine lily isnt very happy about the new arrival. Freda has been staying in the kitchen and lily has been staying upstairs. But lily is to scared to eat or go on her litter box. Freda seems alot happier now shes got some company. Iv gotta be careful with freda because she gets stressed very easily and being 15 yrs old it can be dangerous. She also is partially blind which doesnt help, this morning lily and freda hissed at eachother but that was all,no fights have happened yet.

I just feel sorry for lily because she used to be so happy now shes miserable but i cant blame her i would be to. Does anyone know whether catnip might help make them happier?or anything else you can think off? Il get some pics of freda taken so you can see her settling in. Apart from this freda is very happy but still getting used to her new surroundings,i suppose it will take time for them to tolerate eachother.

You might try posting in the Behavior forum for some more answers. Catnip might help; I've read that Feliway can be used to help soothe cats, but in my small town, it isn't available, so I have no personal experience with it. As for Lily, she prob. feels threatened, but in time, may come around. Some of my cats hit it off just fine & others never adjust. None of my cats like the Himilayan that I rescued, and they choose to be away from her as much as possible, with the exception of JC, who is too busy being curious, playful & happy to dislike anyone.I have to keep the Himmy away from my bed so that the others will sleep with me.

I'm so glad that you now have Freda!
I am sorry to hear that there are a few teathing problems though! I am sure that with time and propeer introduction, they will begin to mix just fine! Make sure that you give Lily extra treats when she is showing no bad signs towards Freda and spend time alone with both cats!

Have you tried the jumper of toy swapping thing?

I hope things improve soon and I can't wait to see the pictures!

Oh and a Feliway difuser could help - I'll find the website that I buy mine from!

It will take a while to get everyone adjusted!

I buy my Feliway from The Cats Shop When I first ordered it, they got it to me in two days!

I really do hope that it helps with things! Please do remember that it will take longer than a day or so for the cats to become adjusted!
