Little Stray gave birth about 3 hrs ago and all 5 kittens are still connected to imbilica cords and placentas, should I cut them or give her more time. Please help asap.
Don't panic, rip the placenta and tear it gently off the kitten. The kitten's face needs to wiped with a clean warm cloth- You want to cut the cord about 3/4 inches from the kitten's belly and tie it off with a piece of dental floss. If the kitten is unresponsive, please rub the little one briskly but not rough with a warm towe until it responds. You need to have sterilized scissors when you cut the cord-
Hissy, your advice is such a shelter in the storm! I'm so glad that you were able to see this post tonight!
By the way, Little Stray, welcome to TCS! I will offer prayers & light a candle for your new mama kitty & little ones. Please keep us posted on their progress! Susan
